Well, most of the JFF regulars know each other to a fairly decent extent because this is what happens here most days.

Anyway, JFF is the jungle of PA, and if you can't hack it in the jungle, go and play with the the kiddies in the Prog Lounge.

T.Rox, your member profile says you have a prog rock community radio channel. Where does it play?

Was a while back young whipper snapper. I used to do a number so shows on 105.5 RoxFM in Roxby Downs in SA, one specifically about prog rock. Then I moved to Newman in the North West of WA where I was on 6NEW 92.9 FM doing the same thing.

Since I have moved to Perth there has been precious little opportunity for Community Radio, and what there was was simply helping out in an established programme so I have really drifted away from the radio. I do miss it, though.

I did get some opportunities to really push prog rock. I used to play a 15 minute plus song every hour to air a few epics. I have done specials where I have played complete albums ...TAAB, Autobahn, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, War Of The Worlds & Relayer are some that come to mind. I did a huge Pink Floyd special one night where I played all of DSOTH, WYWH & Animals, and at least one track from just about every PF album, including Echoes from Meddle.

...this is one of my 'back in the day' experiences! Tongue

If you ever get the chance to be involved with community radio where you have a bit of control over your programme go for it. It is a heap of fun and you get to tell the world (albeit limited to where you broadcast) about the music you love! Thumbs Up

I will be in Canberra in March (I think) for the ACT BMX State Titles in my daughter's prep for National & World BMX Titles.

I made the mistake in promising if she ranked in the top 8 in the World in her age group on her 20" bike in Adelaide this year I would take her to South Africa for the 2010 Worlds ...she finished No.6 in the World! Big smile Happy ...but it's gonna be expensive in 2010!

Seeing your avatar reminded me that I played all of Olias on one occasion, too!

There is a bit of a funny story behind me getting my first copy of Olias. I parked in the carpark of the Perth Entertainment Centre sometime back in the 70's. As I got out of my car there was a cassette tape case on ground that I nearly stepped on. Picked it up and "hey, presto" it is Olias Of Sunhillow by Jon Anderson from Yes. Cool looking picture and a promise of good things inside. When I got back from whatever I was doing, I stuck it in the old cassette player in the car and was very happy with my find Tongue One man's loss is another man's gain!

Since then I have bought a copy on LP and on CD.

My car was broken into when my third son was born in 1993 and my tapes were stolen with ...you guessed it ... Olias Of Sunhillow in the cassette carry case! Hopefully the thief got to enjoy the music, too! (Most of the other tapes were ones I had recorded from my LP's so no big loss ...though my tape of Hawkwind's Live '79 was in the lot and I had that only on tape at the time.)
