Cream was more progressive and influential than many bands on this site!

Not in the way ELP wer, all 3 came from successful bands, who all had major releases and hits, Much as i like Cream and their members, the same cannont be said of Cream.

dude.... wrong.... hahahha "Cream could be viewed as the first rock supergroup to become superstars, although none of the three members were that well-known when the band formed in mid-1966. Eric Clapton had the biggest reputation, having established himself as a guitar hero first with the Yardbirds, and then in a more blues-intensive environment with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. (In the States, however, he was all but unknown, having left the Yardbirds before "For Your Love" made the American Top Ten.) Bassist/singer Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker had both been in the Graham Bond Organisation, an underrated British R&B combo that drew extensively upon the jazz backgrounds of the musicians. Bruce had also been, very briefly, a member of the Bluesbreakers along Clapton, and also briefly a member of Manfred Mann when he became especially eager to pay the rent." stolen from Allmusic so I don't waste any more time on this hahahahha All three were legends in the music scene, amoung other musicians, in England before Cream formed... |

Once again, noted, but not as major hits as the ELP members had, critically acclaimed, but not major players.

I give up brother.... try doing a bit of research man..do some research on Graham Bond, or the John Mayalls Bluesbreakers.. you may find that they dwarfed the 'major player' status you are putting on the individual member of ELP. Anyway you won't find a bigger ELP fan here than me but you're heading down that slipperery slope of insane fanboy than I have personal disgust for.. .regardless of the group. |

Yep, they went back to the late 60s and early 70s via a time machine and influenced bands like Guru Guru or Dzyan . |

*Sigh*. Their first album was released in 1973. I sincerely doubt the first German bands even knew of their existence. |

Rush did an extensive German tour in 1969 (still without Neil Peart), you should ask Edgar Froese about that, Baldfriede!

I do think that Cream was a supergroup, no doubt but come on! So is ELP.
Lake was in King Crimson (ITCOTCK)
Emerson was in The Nice
Palmer was in Atomic Rooster (almost with Jimi Hendrix)
All these bands had a status in proto-prog/ prog and some even condsider ITCOTCK to be the first prog album ever. IMO it was the first Symphonic prog album. Anyway: three members from big bands -> first supergroup of prog!

And they influenced him so much that Tangerine Dream sound like a copy of Rush. Nuts. Also I don't know where you got that from, but I rather doubt that a band that has not even published an album will cross the ocean to tour Germany. With what money? And with what expectations? Do you have any idea about the costs of a tour, especially overseas? Hard to believe, unless you can back it up with something. |

The Graham Bond Organisation also had a young Jon Hiseman (later forming Colosseum) on the drums replacing Ginger Baker when he left. Here is an intersting link I discovered whilst checking that on Google:

BaldFriede, verstehen Sie Spass?
You are a Krautrock expert and you know a lot about music but I presumed you don't know much about Rush so I teased you a little bit with some 'fantasy stories' about Rush ... thanks for your inspired reaction ! |
