We obviously don't know that much about Beethoven's life, but the funniest detail so far is that for many years he thought he was 2 years younger than he actually was. I don't think we know how that happened, but there are letters of him talking, for example, about a sonata he has just written at the age of 11, won't you please give me money noble lord, but his baptismal certificate was dated 13 years ago.
And back in the day, composers could pump out so many operas because for most of them, the singer was going to improvise the hell out of it anyway because they were prima donnas, so they only wrote the framework of the melody and harmony and left the rest to them.
It's fascinating how improvisation was crucial at the time of the composers, and now classical music is seen as completely static.
I was reading somewhere that recently some scholar finished his work and produced a new version of his symphonies because apparently the canon versions are riddled with transcription and printing errors that were never corrected... |

Hahaha, thanks, I didn't notice that. Ah well, it wasn't a very good joke anyway, so I'll just kill it.

Yeah, I know normally those are terrible, but you don't see something like that very often. I wish they had kept the video running longer, I want to see what it did. That what just happened? look he gives is great. Poor dog. :(

Sounds like a cross between Uriah Heep and Jethro Tull. Interesting nonetheless. Might have to check them out sometime. |
