After a couple of days thinking about it I finally voted for Genesis it gets down to personal taste I guess .. but for me it was a hard decision ...

I do prefer Pink Floyd over Genesis, even though they both are awesome.
The reason might be that I don't really enjoy the post-Gabriel albums that much.

I'd rather not vote...I have to vote against Genesis because Pink Floyd
mean more to me than any other band in the world. Having said
that, I am happy to see Genesis winning this one...so far!

Well, I'm happy it's fairly close...
I'm stickin' with the Floyd.
I'll be honest, I'm not that into their Piper/Saucerful space rock stuff, although I don't hate it. For me, Meddle was their breakthrough album (Echoes is 23.5 minutes of awesome), and Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall are all fantastic. (read: Pure Freaking Genius) The Final Cut is ok, and I actually like Lapse, and as for the Division Bell...it was alright but it can't hold a candle to 70's Floyd or Genesis.
I won't pretend I'm an expert with Genesis. I do enjoy what I've heard of them a lot, but they're not a band I listen to very often. (If only because I forget...my dad was a fan, he's got most of their stuff on vinyl and I don't pull out the record player as often as I should.)
If Floyd wasn't the first progressive band I came across, and one of my favourite bands for 4+ years, it would have been closer, but that's not the case, so The Pink Floyd Sound all the way!
P.S. For all of you not aware, Rick Wright would be 66 tomorrow (July 28) RIP RIck :'(

Genesis are the best prog-rock band ever, Floyds are boring (IMO), so I prefer the G

^^^ post above me ... Seems to me "boring" is only how one perceives something I never considered Floyd boring to me selling out is boring and I dont think Floyd ever did that, well not fully ...

So difficult!!! I've became a big Genesis fan in the last few years but I love Pink Floyd since I was a teenager and I think they're still my favourite, so my vote goes for them.

Extremely difficult - I love both bands, although I guess ultimately Pink Floyd has lasted longer for me.
It has always been an interesting question - what did Pink Floyd think of Genesis, and what did Genesis think of Pink Floyd?

) (What took you so long?) (I got no idea why I didn't like Genesis before now 
). Do yourself a favor and don't go leaping into Neo yet; stick with Genesis for a while, hear slowly all the Gabriel-era albums, wait til you practically know the words. (I will go slowly forward, not even tired of listening to "Selling England by the pound" yet!) Then you'll have all the guidance you need (well, not in life but in much of prog).
