David Gilmour that in the lead.....thats no good. Phil Miller's feel alone makes him dominate Gilmour

My personal favorites are Howe and Di Meola, but I think Mc Laughlin is the best.

I find it weird that Gilmour has so many votes, though I don't complain, he's one of my favourite guitar players. It's also weird that Hackett is so far behind votes, and even Fripp should be closer, I guess.

A great group of guitarists. Howe was the best of this group. He was just capable of playing that was so different at the time.
Have to give a plug for Martin Barre of Jethro Tull. Very under-appreciated, but absolutely critical to Tull's sound. His solo albums show just how good he really is.

Nice to see some love for Barre, who I agree is very under-appreciated and always has been. He's a very tasteful player who happens to have great chops when he is allowed to show them. He's also a super-cool guy, and although IA steers the reigns, Tull would not have sounded the same without Lancelot. I wanted to vote for him too. But this poll is one of the toughest I've seen so far on this board. Simply too many amazing players to pick one. Wildly varying styles. How could I pick Howe but not Hackett? Zappa but not McLaughlin? etc. etc. etc.... so in the end, I went for my all-time favourite guitar player, Alex Lifeson. That does not mean he is technically better or more proficient, or any of that stuff. In the end, that is unimportant. It's more important to say that I love almost all of these guitarists for sometimes very different reasons. All hail King Lerxst!

Hackett is my favourite, followed closely by Howe. My favourite, however, is probably Ollie Halsall, with Patto and Kevin Ayers, played such amazing guitar. He is so great and so underrated at the same time.

Hackett, Howe, Mclaughlin, Fripp and others were great, but Gilmour is just on another level. If for nothing else that solo on Time is reason enough.......

I could have gone with either Howe or Lifeson. as the latter has fewer votes, I chose him.

I'm going to go with Gary Green today, which I think is a very underrated musician, although I love both Steves and Gilmour as well.
