This is the kind of argument that could change us into a general rock, pop, prog site like Allmusic.

I'm not sure if Supertramp should be considered Prog', but they are already in and nobody will take them out because of the politic of the site, and to be honest, Crime of the Century is very close to Prog.

But the fact that a non Prog band has been admited doesn't allow us to make the same mistake over and over. Two mistakes don't make a correct choice.

BOC is a hard rock band and nothing more IMO, they shouldn't be here, if you want to add soime similar band, do it with Led Zeppelin that has a lot of Prog' elements and has been kept out for too much time.

Blue Oyster Cult´s lyrics are very Sci Fi yet thought provoking. I have Cultasaurus Erectus which is really good! I say if bands like Queensryche make the grade, so too should Blue Oyster CultSmile

BOC have come up before; http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11182& amp; amp;KW=blue+oyster+cult

Having listened very carefully to Queensryche, I don't see why they're here either - their music is just recycled Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, but with less melody and feeling and more of that pedantic "must be technically superior and accurate" approach that kills the soul of music.

So Queensryche don't make the grade - it's just that for as long as I can remember they've had the Prog Metal label.

Don't ask me why - I really don't understand it

I agree, though - "Cultosaurus Erectus" is a magnificent album, and very nearly prog in places. The follow-up "Fire Of Unknown Origin" is brilliant too.

On Supertramp - the two albums "Crime of the Century" and "Even in the Quietest Moments" justify their existence in the archives alone, IMO.

Blue Oyster Cult (BOC)

Many refer to their first four albums as the "black and white" period because of their black and white cover art.  These albums comprise of their prog rock period.

With Agents of Fortune they start to got pop/rock.

However, their live album ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES .Is a must for anyone who loves live rock and roll, it rivals Zep's How the West Was Won.
