I can't speak for Jonas, but I'm pretty sure neither Tony or Mike would go for that band name. ![]() |

Portnoy would get kicked out first, as soon as he suggested that he could do growls on a couple of tracks. Next would be Victor Wooten, for showing off too much. And Joanne Hogg would leave as soon as Toby started trying to get her into astral projection. So you'd probably make at least the top 6

I don't know who'd be in my band, as long as they played Acid-Skiffle.
Any suggestions?

Guitar: Robert Fripp
Bass: Jaco Pastorius Drums: Bill Bruford Keyboards: Keith Emerson, or maybe Patrick Moraz (I suppose they could share, but the music might get a bit cluttered.) Violin: Jerry Goodman |

^ Another MO? Pro'ly another band we could dream about. And I bet Pastorius and Fripp would sound awesome together.

For me, my perfect line-up is the one of Yes on Fragile and Close to the edge, just the best of the best on each instrument.
However, Grace for Drowing last year got me thinking about a plausible great line-up that could be formed this days, perhaps it could even be the new King Crimson: Robert Fripp on guitars. Steven Wilson on vocals and guitars. Jordan Rudess on Keyboards. Theo Travis on sax and flute. Tony Levin on bass. Gavin Harrison on drums. Dream on... Edited by Dellinger - June 21 2012 at 19:57 |

Some times I have also thought about which could be the ideal PA line-up, and even though I wouldn't agree with every member, I think this might be it:
Vocals: Peter Gabriel. Guitars: Robert Fripp (though Steve Hackett might just as well be chosen, or even Steve Howe). Keyboards: Keith Emerson (though Tony Banks might just as well be chosen, or a bit less likely, even Rick Wakeman). Flute: Ian Anderson (sharing some vocal duties). Bass: Crhis Squire, sharing some vocal duties. Drums: Bill Bruford. Edited by Dellinger - June 21 2012 at 20:02 |

When you said "ideal PA lineup," at first I thought you meant a band composed of members of this site! Which would probably be an interesting topic, too. You could kick out everyone in my first suggested lineup except for Rob and I, add Phideaux and Smurph, and then a drummer...who plays drums around here?

^ What about general approach to music? Like consideration for melody, harmony, memorability ... are they still the best? Not that I'm questioning those things ... just asking ... ?
