The people who believe in conspiracy theories and indigo children are the ones who have reached stupid conclusions. And considering you're a hard-line atheist, I'd think you'd be more concerned about the impact of faulty reasoning on the downward spiral of humanity.

This line of 'faultless' reasoning is confident enough it seems to dispense entirely with the remotest possibility that any person(s) anywhere at any time have ever been found guilty of conspiring against a third party and suffered punitive action as a result. ?

Collusion ain't restricted to tiresome fantasies about how very famous people met their deaths or if we ever did really walk on the moon.

Oh come on, you don't have to be so pedantic. Everybody knows that worthless theories about 9/11 and the moon landings are what people mean when they derisively say "conspiracy theories".

All these "new age" concepts like the ones you mention I think make for great entertainment, it's not a coincidence that a lot of theosophical concepts have found their way into sci-fi literature (H. P. Lovecraft, Dune etc.) because it makes for some interesting fantastic imagery but in real life I have a hard time taking them seriously as more than allegory at best.

Simply put, 'anti-theist' means that my viewpoint is one that is against religion. This is because I am stunned by the amount of control and wars and hate that has been the result, alongside the realisation of atheism coming to me. I was a catholic by birth, became disillusioned into agnosticism, during which time my life was falling apart... The new age movement soon became a crutch for me and worsened my situation. To be honest, I feel that by believing in and trying to please any gods, goddesses and high beings, mankind often forgets that he has the power to make the world a happy place and find answers on his own, he often forgets that most people are good in thier intentions, he often forgets to make himself happy. P.S. I don't believe however that this life is all there is... science declares energy to be ever changing but eternal and we are all made of energy!  Ying YangTongue

You only really need to worry if you feel a burning or stinging sensation in your brown eye. It means that your wellbeing karma levels are low, on account of not swallowing enough bullsh*t.

You've got about five threads to read and approximately 14+ hours of videos to sit through, my dear.  LOL

Okay, Henry's making the same basic point I made, but since he has bigger balls than I, he's going all the way.

So, you would say people like Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris are ''wasting their breath'', too? I'm pretty sure they too see a downward spiral of sorts, but from the same type people who apparently should be left alone, by your logic.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but how can speaking out against something you personally find detrimental to humanity be a waste? How is that automatically equalling 'negativity'? I was under the impression that if somebody speaks out against something they believe is doing harm, it's called bravery.

Basically, I am asking this: how does sitting around and pretending problems don't exist solve anything?

Again, this may not have been your point, and I mean this all in friendly debate. Hope no offence is taken. Embarrassed

Don't worry mate, it's all friendly I'm not easily offended

Well let's put it this way: speaking out against something you feel is detrimental to the human race is all very well, but still a waste of breath because let's be honest now, no-one actually listens. And if people do listen, governemts and authorities don't, therefore nothing gets done. I remember a woman in England that was being badly terrorized by anti-social behaviour of local chavs, and she made numourous appeals to the council about it. The council did absolutely nothing, despite writing almost 100 letters of appeal. She eventually killed herself because of it. Sad but true. That is one example of how speaking out is futile. Now I'm not saying that this woman should have just kept quiet, but if she can't get anything done about something as serious as bullying, then what use is it complaining about something as trivial as the "New Age"?

Hey man! Just because I don't believe religions, or the ascention theory doesn't mean that I don't think there's more to being human. After all, we only use a minute portion of our brain, DNA can be switched on and off using scientific means, that's a fact, whether or not my experience of both Christianity and New Age was negative and disillusioning.

The fact that you (apparently) were involved in New Age at all is a bit shocking to me. Christianity makes a little more sense, in that so many families raise their children to follow that belief. But how many 'New Age' kids are there? At this point, I wouldn't guess all that many. So that means you intentionally sought out that stuff. But if Christianity didn't work for you, why did you think New Age would?

I'm just curious.
