My new-found love for Radiohead compels me. SMM is exactly the kind of avant-garde music that I despise, unfortunately.

Radiohead easily. I wish that they weren't viewed in a different light on this site simply because they're......POPULAR in the mainstream view. There, I said it, you can uncover your ears again.

Probably because Radiohead is more than barely Prog Alternative.

Do you like anything so-called avant-garde, Avantgardehead?

Samla Mammas Manna without doubt for me. I have a hard time enjoying Radiohead's music.

Oh come on, I still unsure about how prog Radiohead is... What's happening here??
Samla is great, more than a "funny band" (as some "prog listeners" said before) they're a very smart RIO band featuring some of the most complex arrangements ever heard, at the level of Frank Zappa IMO

This is not my beautiful house...

Radiohead. SMM may be good musicians using the major part of their talents for the making of would-be background music for Comedy Capers-movies, by occasion in a 5/4 or 5/8 time signature. Maybe I'm a bit too narrow-minded to capture the essence of RIO and should I take some time to read the reviews of their albums since some of them score a 4+ average instead of the three that I should give them, based on these samples. Correct me of I'm wrong...

You're wrong. Neither you or Micky (which he later found out) should judge a band like Samla based on a couple of random samples. Only Progmetal and Neoprogbands can be dismissed as simple as that. Three of these battles has been frustratingly difficult too choose: A8 Samla v. Radiohead Love both. Voted Radiohead as they've meant a lot to me ever since Kid A. A4: The Residents v. Tangerine Dream (12-15) Love both. Voted Residents. Probably the first (experimental) progressive music I got into A2: Gong v. Area (18-19) Love both. Voted Area, not sure why.

Samla for me, one of the best RIO bands. Wacky, jazzy, fun and creative stuff!
I really enjoy Radiohead as well, although they never was a favorite of mine.

I don't really mind who wins, here. I do know that I listen to Radiohead more, for singalong purposes, so I voted the same way, but Samla is one of those bands you know more people would like if they really stopped to listen - along with Stormy Six I think they're the easiest RIO group to appreciate and some of their music really is classic.

I went with Radiohead just off of Ok Computer. It's one of those albums that I can listen to over and over again and not tire of.
