Please explain how a Marxist can be 1- a US senator 2- a Party candidate  3- perhaps even president in 2008 ? Marxism is sort of a corpse by now , save for N Korea (Stalinist really) and I can't think of another one .

Moving, was just having some fun (or so I thought).  I didn't realize we were looking to have a serious policy discussion here.  Apologies if poking fun was not appreciated.

Oh, alright, that's fine. I completely misunderstood; it came across (well, to me, anyway... I could have read it wrong too) like you were being serious.

Apology accepted. Big%20smile

Yeah, and I heard he also fathered two black children.

For that silly comment you deserve a couple of Tom Tomorrows:

Ah, hell!  Why not sock you with three:

To answer all three of your questions at once, I'm not totally sure how a Marxist could gain so much influence in today's society. The only possible reason I can think of is that he's very charismatic and therefore is able to fool many people. An example of this being when his pastor, Rev. Wright, gave that famous "GODD**N AMERICA" speech earlier this year and Obama said that he had no idea that his pastor was such a racist man. Now, Obama has been going to Wright's church for over 20 years, so how could he possibly say that he didn't know his pastor was racist after 20 years of attending mass there every Sunday? Sorry I can't give you a better answer, but you brought up a very good point yourself of how illogical it is that a man like him is even in this position. I also have the link to the National Journal article about how Obama was voted the most liberal senator in the U.S. Feel free to browse it if you'd like:

that is why... in my personal opinion... this country is destined for the dustbin of history.. maybe not in my lifetime.  but in my children's.   The people here take what they have here for granted.. and don't realize the great power they have.  You don't like the candidates... congress.... who elects them.....  we do.  There are other countries that are not spoiled like Americans are .... who would fight and die just to have a vote or a say.  People should think about that next time you decide not to vote or get involved due to..  apathy.

all the more reason to elect him.... we damn sure have seen the conservative leadership .. is nothing more than get rich while you can... and pander to the ignorant uneducated on the right who think that gay marriage is a f**king sin against God LOL  Like god wasn't  a damn LIBERAL himself hahhahah..

that's right shoot the liberals.. .you use that like a dirty word.... .going to put Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, Benjamin Franklin against the wall as well.

if he was most liberal... then I say... more power to him.   You've been watching Fox too much... Liberal as a by-word for boogyman had it's day... 8 years of Bush killed that.

What's so funny is that the US still bandies about invalid and inane logos, labels and slogans such as LIBERAL and CONSERVATIVE (usually only 2 , ever notice there are always only 2 choices in the USA?). In East Europe, Fascist and Communist still continues after 19 years of destitution? Go figure . The oldest form of manipulation is calling someone something that they ARE NOT! Boring!!!!!!!

Bird , you didn't answer my question! Racism, idiocy, lies,  insanity, greed YES but Marxist????????? Where?

the truth Brian...

nothing like like having the patriotism of  combat veterans of the first war who were opposed to the war questioned by their country and the  likes of Dick Cheney.. who took multiple deferments to avoid being drafted to serve his country.

stupidity.. yep.. that is conservative leadership for you...

Admins, if you could kindly lock down this thread before I get nasty, I'd appreciate it. Sorry I can't respond to all the comments, but there's so much ignorance that I can't really stand it anymore.

Hey look, it's Michelle Obama! Go read her thesis and see if her and her husband are nice people or a bunch of racists who want to see whitey burn. I'm done giving my opinion at this point.

well... to summarize the thread...

one who has no concept of Marxism...

one who has a real problem with Conservatives....LOL

and David's original point.... this was a historic event...  like him or not.  And speaks to what was... and can be great about this country.  It IS the land of opportunity... liberal.. marxist... even for hypocrical draft-dodgers who have no qualms sending others to die.

I gotta say, Americans are so  incredibly touchy when it comes to politics , they perhaps should witness a good Celtic/Rangers derby and see what "Before I get nasty" really means LOL Or Mickey, how about a nice Milan /Inter contest at the San Siro?
In the universal scope of things , calling someone a conservative is a travesty. There are ample examples that the correct word is corrupt and deceiving. There are some liberals who are not liberal they are lying and greedy . What 's the dif ? For correctness sake, calling Obama marxist  is not only ridiculous , it boomerang's YOUR ignorance. If you accuse someone of being red , then show the ketchup!LOLLOLLOLShocked
