Same here. There are just too many to mention, so I'll do the same as before and make an A-Z list of 25 favourite albums. Smile

Nice acknowledgement of Arco Iris -- I need to find some more. Although the songs I remember of theirs wasn't jazzy at all.

One album per band / only artists that are labelled as JR/F on PA / very much subject to change:
1. Return To Forever – Romantic Warrior
2. Mats/Morgan Band – Live
3. Brand X – Moroccan Roll

7. Mahavishnu Orchestra – Visions Of The Emerald Beyond
8. Jean-Luc Ponty – Enigmatic Ocean
9. Bruford – Feels Good To Me
10. Hiromi – Alive

For honourable mentions I'll only list albums that haven't been mentioned yet by other people, so as not to clutter up the thread too much:

* Billy Cobham - Spectrum
* Centipede - Septober Energy
* D.F.A. - Lavori In Corso

* Louis De Mieulle - Sideshow
* Mediabanda - Maquinarias
* Monobody - Comma
* Reuben Gingrich - Blue Island
* The Brecker Brothers - Heavy Metal Be-Bop

Oh Yes. I have more albums by Santana (31 in total) than any other band, although  my Jazz-Rock A-Z choices won't necessarily all be listed under JR/F on PA.

I already have Zzebra lined up for the letter "Z", so I'll work backwards from there, Smile

Okay so, it would be interesting to hear little about your view of it.

Many great suggestions have been made!

Of course, I gravitate to the usual stuff = Mahavishnu (Emerald), RTF (Where Have...) etc.

Don't forget "Powers of Ten" by Shawn Lane!

Some of my favorites are solo projects or side projects:

"Shakti" by John McLaughlin

"Stanley Clarke" second LP, and also "School Days" are personal favorites!

"Blow by Blow" by Jeff Beck

"Spectrum" by Billy Cobham

Chicago is quite a capital for Jazz Rock Fusion, including:

"Rough Draft" by Apprentice

"Scramble" by Kick the Cat

More to follow!

The "Peter and the Wolf" project, including an all-star cast from Brand X, is worth exploring!

With Phil Collins on drums, Percy Jones bass and a cast of rock legends.
Manfred Mann as "Peter,"
Eno playing "The Wolf ,"
Stephane Grappelli is "The Cat,"
Gary Moore and Alvin Lee as "The Duck,"
Gary Brooker "The Bird,"
Phil Collins, Bill Bruford and Cozy Powell play "The Hunters," Jack Lancaster "The Grandfather."
Narrator: Viv Stanshall. Julie Driscoll and the English Chorale. Produced and arranged by Jack Lancaster and Robin Lumley.

Hi,

Sad for me, was on what's his name's thing on TB and him making a comment about the "voice" introducing the instruments that I thought was not nice. I think that Viv and Mike wanted to make it sound really cool that these instruments were listed, which OBVIOUSLY was a throwback to the original song that was a bit of a hit by the Bonzo Dog Band ... called "The Intro and the Outro" I think it was, and ... yeah ... it was meant to be fun and then some, but as someone looking at the music "seriously", a voice making it light and enjoyable is not a good thing. Vivian was an outstanding singer, narrator and had a voice that should have been used a lot more were it not that at the time, he was simply dismissed and ignored, which I think really hurt him. And then hearing him making fun of Marat/Sade ... gives Vivian a completely different intelect and ability that is rarely associated with folks involved in rock music, many of which, could be said to not be musically talented at all.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I'm very glad and impressed to see this list, Poul, and I can tell that I'm particularly fond of the Secrets. Big smile

I can tell you, as well, that I've began to think about letting some of "my" future threads be inspired by your A-Z lists, if that woud be okay with you?

That's absolutely fine. I'm honoured that you're inspired by my A-Z lists. Now, I need to make a start on putting together an A-Z list of fave Prog-Folk albums, although it could take quite awhile. It's going to be fun though.  Smile
