Edit:
And I think you're the only one to mention this one, besides myself:

Arion - s/t
Atmosphera - Fogo e Ar
Jaivas - Alturas..
Pablo el Enterrador - s/t
Quaterna Requiem - Velha Gravura
Sagrado - Grande Espirito
Secos & Molhados - ii
Sigma - Implemental View

I'm a Latin American who has lived in Latin America his whole life, and I can tell you that exposure to Prog is so rare in my country that I consider myself a loner in that regard. So since I haven't heard any prog from any other Latin American country, I will write about my own.

PA lists only two prog bands from Guatemala: Humus Fuga, which I've never even remotely heard of, and Alux Nahual, which for me is as commercial pop rock as it can be.

Thus, my favorite Latin American prog album is definitely:

Sapiens - Aureola Gris (Guatemala)

I read in their Facebook page that they released a second album with a female vocalist but I have never been able to get a hold of it.

Hi,

This is an area that I have not exactly given it a proper listen ... I have been mostly European and Californian in my tastes, but there are some things in Latin America that I have given a very good listen to ... the jazz thing being one of them!

Gives me a chance to hear some new things ... though that Chilean group is in my collection. The only think that I am not exactly inspired by, is, for example, some of the Italian new stuff Andrea posts ... it's nice for the most part, but they are all pop/rock copy and while they may be considered "progressive", I think that a lot of that work is not going to be exactly attract a lot of folks. I would not be able to tell you/them what they need, but there are some nice things, though I think that using different instruments instead of the same rock'n'roll stuff would really help ... the new music of the future will have different elements and a varied use of instruments ... that has been the history of music, so seeing the same four instruments, is a bit tough, and sometimes, might not be considered original.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

R-U Kaiser "Ocelos" -- beautiful female vocals.

Three favourite Santana-related albums:-

QUATERNA REQUIEM (WIERMANN & VOGEL)    Holy Moly! For those who like RIO music, this is Brazilian band Quaterna Requiem, whose classically inspired Latin name also hints at some marvellous, classically-inspired music within their Symphonic Prog repertoire. I've heard a whisper that they even have a Benedictine Monk in their line-up, so you can receive a blessing at the same time as listening to the music. Tongue
