We've had by now quite a bit of European lists so, I (and not only Grumpy) think it'll be good to continue our musical journey outside Europe, and to the opposite side of the globe, namely Latin America (South plus Middle America). Beginning with my list, one album per band, and unranked:
Mutantes (BRA) - Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol (1974)
Lula Côrtes e Zé Ramalho (BRA) - Paêbirú (1975) Terreno Baldio (BRA) - Terreno Baldio (1976) Bacamarte (BRA) - Depois Do Fim (1983) Crucis (ARG) - Los Delirios del Mariscal (1976)
M.I.A. (ARG) - Cornonstipicum (1978) Agnus (ARG) - Pinturas Y Expresiones (1980) Los Jaivas (Chile) - Alturas de Machu Pichu (1981)
Flor De Loto (Peru) - Flor De Loto (2005) Iconoclasta (MEX) - Reminiscencias (1985)
Ijahman (Jamaica) - Hail I Hymn (1978, maybe a kind of "Prog Reggae")

Cold & wet sunday morning in Brussels, with not that much to do, and I was busy rating albums in Gnosis 2000 anyways.

I only barely managed doing only one album per band, clearly I must up my exposure to the sounds of the south (I still need to give Anabelas and Depois Do Fim a good listen)

3. Mediabanda (Chile) - Maquinarias (2021) 4. Satanique Samba Trio (Brazil) - Mais Bad (2019) 5. Beledo (Uruguay) - Escape (1985) 6. Greco Bastián (Mexico) - No Cover (2020) 7. I can't quite tell what I think about that, but I can tell as much that I've began to think about a regional list with another approach of my own than hitherto. That is thinking more about the stylistic kind and origin of the music than where the musicians live when the music is created.
Edit: And I don't think I'll get upset, if you do so.

Aallriight, progardvaark, you seem to be one of those who are quite familiar with Latin American Prog, thank you very much to you, as well. Could you maybe recommend something to me in line with my own list? Edit: Not least from a country, I don't have any albums from, yet - but it's not so important. I can tell, I've heard many other albums than my favourites here, but I didn't like them well enough.

I don't know many (nod to Bubu - Anabelas in any case), but can list two that I haven't seen listed yet: Un Festin Sagital - Epitafio a la Permanencia
Cabezas de Cera - Musica in Escala de Grises
These three are not listed on PA, but prog enough for me: Egberto Gismonti - Academia de Dancas
Thanataloop - violadorviolado & Mar Ebrio
Best album from Latin America for me (among my top 5 of all time): Astor Piazzolla - Nueva Tango: Hora Zero

Bacamarte - Depois do Fim 5. Tempus Fugit - Tales from a Forgotten World 6. Quaterna Requiem - Velha Gravura 7. Mutantes - Tudo foi Feito pelo Sol

I'd like to tell here that what I'm fond of about listning to Prog from many different countries is that each country has somehow own specific musical characteristics, and I like very much the variety, it gives. I'm very fond of, as well, to enjoy music from different cultures, and I quite often think about how the specific musical characteristics may reflect some broader cultural ones.

I'm a Latin American who has lived in Latin America his whole life, and I can tell you that exposure to Prog is so rare in my country that I consider myself a loner in that regard. So since I haven't heard any prog from any other Latin American country, I will write about my own.
PA lists only two prog bands from Guatemala: Humus Fuga, which I've never even remotely heard of, and Alux Nahual, which for me is as commercial pop rock as it can be.
Thus, my favorite Latin American prog album is definitely:
Sapiens - Aureola Gris (Guatemala)
I read in their Facebook page that they released a second album with a female vocalist but I have never been able to get a hold of it.

Hi,
This is an area that I have not exactly given it a proper listen ... I have been mostly European and Californian in my tastes, but there are some things in Latin America that I have given a very good listen to ... the jazz thing being one of them!
Gives me a chance to hear some new things ... though that Chilean group is in my collection. The only think that I am not exactly inspired by, is, for example, some of the Italian new stuff Andrea posts ... it's nice for the most part, but they are all pop/rock copy and while they may be considered "progressive", I think that a lot of that work is not going to be exactly attract a lot of folks. I would not be able to tell you/them what they need, but there are some nice things, though I think that using different instruments instead of the same rock'n'roll stuff would really help ... the new music of the future will have different elements and a varied use of instruments ... that has been the history of music, so seeing the same four instruments, is a bit tough, and sometimes, might not be considered original.

QUATERNA REQUIEM (WIERMANN & VOGEL) Holy Moly! For those who like RIO music, this is Brazilian band Quaterna Requiem, whose classically inspired Latin name also hints at some marvellous, classically-inspired music within their Symphonic Prog repertoire. I've heard a whisper that they even have a Benedictine Monk in their line-up, so you can receive a blessing at the same time as listening to the music.
