I'll try some:

Queen's first 5 albums are the definition of crossover prog Disagree, only some songs deserve that cred
A Passion Play is the best Jethro Tull album It's def up there
Canterbury is a geographically local music scene and similar sounding bands outside of the locale are basically just fusion with a silly streak (I like many of those albums) Can't argue with that tbh
Interview is a superior GG album to Free Hand NO!!
Steven Wilson's worst engineering is infinitely better than his best music Yes!!
Never Say Day is a quality Black Sabbath album, as well as their most prog I say look to first 7 for the latter part
Vangelis' 70's albums have stronger prog cred than Peter Gabriel's solo albums. I agree

Not a lot really, except that anyone can give their knowledge of a band, album, music, etc to show for themselves in case anybody who might be missing out on that would like to reconsider their hot take.

ie. if someone disses a legendary album and shows no reasoning for it (not that there has to be any), you can defend the album or explain why you think they are wrong.

Ok, thanks for explaining. Smile

Not many opinions here that I would vehemently disagree with, though I only read about half the 14 pages.
I'll try some:

Queen's first 5 albums are the definition of crossover prog
A Passion Play is the best Jethro Tull album
Canterbury is a geographically local music scene and similar sounding bands outside of the locale are basically just fusion with a silly streak (I like many of those albums)
Interview is a superior GG album to Free Hand
Most Progressive Electronic could be labeled New Age if you sold it in a shop that smells of lavender and essential oils rather than coffee and cigarettes
Steven Wilson's worst engineering is infinitely better than his best music

Prog related edition:
St. Anger is the only listenable post-Master of Puppets Metallica album
Never Say Die is a quality Black Sabbath album, as well as their most prog
Also Sabbath, Mob Rules is significantly better than Heaven and Hell
Vangelis' 70's albums have stronger prog cred than Peter Gabriel's solo albums.

Canterbury prog is underrated and Camel are not Canterbury! Agree
ATOTT by Genesis is a snooze fest! Agree
Soft Machine's Fourth is their masterpiece! Agree
You are hard pressed to find a M. Davis record you can sit through and thoroughly enjoy! I love J. Johnson though! Love Miles and sit through loads of his stuff
Most Krautrock is aimless goofy noodling or just pathetic! Wonderful stuff love it

Canterbury is a snooze fest as are Camel most of the time (prog's equivalent of elevator music) Booo
Soft Machine have a lot of noodling, even on PA no one really cares about them! I Do! 5,000 ratings say different!
No one really cares about Gong either I Do! > 5,000 ratings!
Miles Davis is not prog (not a hot take) He's released at least a few prog albums (jazz fusion)
Krautrock - don't know why anyone listens to it (even Germans hate it mostly) Love It!

5000 ratings for all albums is not a lot even here!

I don't believe that Jazz Fusion is prog!

I'm not trying to light any fire. Maybe I'm too straight-forward, I don't know...
Cheers

Isn't that how we should all be on this forum? Big smile

What's the fun in hot takes if you can't even disagree with anyone's picks? (let alone format... ahem)

I have no shame in justifying my picks and giving my opinion on why I think someone else missed something important.

This is not directed only at you btw

Laughing at your apparent inability to understand why anyone has a different view to you! This is supposed to be a thread about unusual likes and dislikes, but you’re questioning so many!!

I think we’re just very different Christi😊

I'm not questioning anything. You misunderstood.
It is a thread of unique likes and dislikes but it seems I am not allowed to ask about any of those choices. It's not that I do not approve, I sometimes would like an extra explanation.

I'm sure most disagree with my odd choices I posted. And if they ask me why, I would give them an explanation.

Mike Oldfield has great guitar tone

I've seen people complain about it, not sure why.
