- Masey Hattori / Grand pianos, Yamaha CP-70 & Fender Rhodes electric pianos, spinet, celeste, Hammond organ, Hohner clavinet, synthesizers (MiniMoog, PolyMoog, Solina string ensemble, Korg, Roland, Oberheim), vocoder, Mellotron
- Hiroshi Natori / drums, percussion, crystal gong
- Masahiro Torigaki / bass, effects
- Yozox Yamamoto / acoustic & electric guitars

some keys missing, others not correct, gave a general cleaning (again, strings mentioned by confusion with the solina, we've seen a few already)

E&O Team: Thanks, done.
I've only changed Solina string ensemble to Solina because the cover does not specify is it string ensemble or some other Solina instrument.

^ It was in PA credits:
--- Vocals ---
........................................
- Krakhon Choir
- Ann Shee / director
......................................

You suggest:
......................................
- Ann Shee / choir
.....................................

Looks like Krakhon Choir is omitted.

Looking at MA page I think it should be:
- Krakhon Choir / choir (5 - 7, 10, 14)
- Ann Shee / Krakhon Choir director (5 - 7, 10, 14)

Right?

a) The designation Krakhon choir refers not to a choir of the real life but in fact is the name of a story character, exists with such name only in the plot, the actual choir being provided by several singers individually identified as such.

b) That condition of "director" is not confirmed, but if it would be mentioned I suggest simply as "choir director"  on account of the reason above.

E&O Team: Thanks, done now.

these (doubtful) credits came from Allmusic, but are not substantiated in other more credible sources and have contradictions with original LP
I think we can make better, either minimal (sticking strictly to the cover info) or obtaining a common denominator from compiling different sources (my suggestion - including the present on PA)
what do you think, is it worth the effort?
take a look at my proposal

- Kevin Ayers / guitars (electric,Spanish, Hawaian & Italian), bass, vocals

With

- Robert Wyatt / drums (excl. 6,9)
- David Bedford / piano,
keyboards, vocals, arrangements
- Paul Buckmaster / Cello
- Jeff Clyne / Bass

- Hugh Hopper / Bass (5)
- Paul Minns / Oboe (2)
- Sean Murphy
- Ian Knight
- Mike Ratledge / keyboards (5,6)
- Rob Tait / drums (6,9)
- Jean & Mary / vocals

Note: Buckmaster and Clyne are surely plausible but not specifically credited or referenced (nowhere I could find), maybe leave them with the note "uncredited" ? (I admit someone knew better and posted, so discard  seems a little bully)
Knight and Murphy are a different case - thanked in the cover but with no attribution (and if were musicians have left no trace)  leads us to think they were not instrumentists but with anyother role in the recording.

How could be made a reference to the other instruments used in the recording (remains the doubt who played what, surely the majority by KA himself, BUT...) : celeste, tambourine, organ, alto melodica, electronics, trombone, flute, piccolo, recorder, mouth organ, kazoo, cello ?

E&O Team: Thanks, done.
Knight, Murphy and "ownerless" instruments not included.

^ Jose, you know, I or my teammates can't be familiar with the history of all of these thousands of bands included in our database.

In this particular case I'd like to know why these musicians
- Paul Buckmaster / Cello
- Jeff Clyne / Bass
should be excluded, better with quotes and links to sources.
Otherwise I have to read and analyse the pages you've probably read and analysed before making your post. You've spent hours to get this info, then I have to spend hours to check it. I don't think it's productive.

You probably noticed that in most cases I correct reported errors and additionally update the whole album info. Because if I will not do it now I will never return to this or that particular album.

If you ask my opinion what's worth the effort, I would say (in general):
1. Correct titles and cover images (obviously).
2. Tracks' times.
3. Media:
- for old records it's helpful to know whether they were reissued on CD and (mostly for younger listeners) are they available as digital downloads;
- vice versa, for new records it's important to know do physical copies (CD, DVD etc) exist.
4. Release dates and reissues - editions with bonus tracks (bonus features) are especially interesting. For the album in question, there is a re-edition featuring Syd Barrett: http://www.discogs.com/Kevin-Ayers-Joy-Of-A-Toy/release/1082112. I think it's worth to be mentioned.
5. Guests - "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".
For example, nobody knows who Jean & Mary are and very few care were they singing on all or only some tracks. But if we see big names (John Wetton, Robert Plant ... add your favourite artist) any fan could see the difference between John Wetton / lead vocals (3) and John Wetton / lead vocals. The latter supposes that he sang on all tracks and this fact is a good reason for fans to check the album.

Perhaps I make things too complex, but it's how I see the work of our team.

I don't (and can't) demand all this info from you or other people helping to improve PA database. But when suggestions are easy to check, it's very helpful. We'll correct errors and then do the rest by ourselves.

I'm pretty sure you weren't planning to go back to that headache of 'Joy of a Toy' but the reference to Syd Barrett, only now I noticed, needs to be corrected from track 14 to track 11 (was it already there? it slipped my attention before)

- Syd Barrett / guitar (11)

If you go there then I suggest, since the two singing girls ended up by being credited, that you include the track (sorry not having done it the first time), that way our effort to completeness makes a little more sense.

- Jean & Mary / vocals (9)

E&O Team: Thanks, you're right. Done.

Wrong album cover, and there are many other singles and albums that are missing from this band's list

Hope sooner or later volunteers will add missing albums.

^ Thanks, but I don't think so.

UH classics were re-recorded in studio by 2009 line-up  (plus 1 new song recorded for this release).
Well, it's not a proper studio album (like "Look at Yourself", "Sea of Light", "Wake the Sleeper" etc), but it's a studio album. We don't have another category for such releases.

^ Thanks, but I'll make of this something less detailed.

Otherwise it's too confusing. Examples:
- Alan Parsons /recorders (1-1), cathedral organ (1-1), lead vocals (1-2,18), Projectron (1-3,5,17) & Synthi-A sequencer programming (1-3), Rhodes (1-7), Fairlight (2-1,2,4,7,8), keyboards, synthesizer (2-15,16), guitar (1-13), acoustic guitar (1-5,10), back vocals (1-9, 2-15), autoharp (1-13), drum machine (1-13, 2-4,8), FX Compilation (1-13), DX7 Clav sequencer (2-10), scientist voice (2-11)

- Eric Woolfson / keyboards (1-1,2,17, 2-1,3,7,8,10), clavinet (1-3), Rhodes (1-4,8), Wurlitzer (1-4,5,12, 2-2,6), piano (1-6,10,14,15,16,18, 2-5,9), organ (1-6,14, 2-5), harpsichord (1-15), Projectron (1-7), clavichord (1-9), virginal (1-9), jangle piano (1-11), DX7 Rhodes (2-11), vocals (1-18, 2-2,6,7), back vocals (1-2,9,10, 2-7,11)

Organs, synths, pianos etc are keyboards too. "keyboards (1-1,2,17, 2-1,3,7,8,10), clavinet (1-3), Rhodes (1-4,8)..." is a strange mix. Either decipher everything or keep more general description like: "keyboards (organs, synths, pianos, ...)". I prefer the latter.

Special thanks for the suggestion to follow the site track by track. I hope I'll finish it in the first half of the next year. Smile

José, specifying instruments on each track for original albums makes sense, but doing the same for multy-disc compilations is too much!
