Topic: Albums You Own In The Top 100 Posted: October 15 2013 at 15:46 |
Hi, just wondering to see how big everyone else's prog collection is and if this website really influences their buying of prog albums. Also, just out of interest, I wanted to see how many albums you own in the current top 100 rated albums.
I personally own 30 out of the 100 and this website has definitely had some level of influence on my prog album choices. Before I knew about this website I probably owned about half of that
Looking forward to seeing how many you own!

Fun question! I have 57 total.
I did get 19 of the top 20 (curse you Banco ) and have every Symphonic Prog and Psych/Spacerock album! My downfall genres are Progressive Metal where I go 0/6 (sorry Nick), Crossover Prog where I go 1/5 and Jazz Rock/Fusion where I go 2/7 with a couple Mahavishnu albums and 0 Miles Davis/Al DiMeola.

Apparently I have 64. The top 100 has changed a fair amount since I last looked at it.

We must have very similar albums as I'm also missing Rush, Opeth, DT, POS & some Zappa.

8 of the top 10 11 of the top 20 23 of the top 50 24 of the top 100
Wow, I only own 1 of the 51-100 group (ELP's debut). It seems to me that I own many of the 'prog essentials' and from there it's just personal preference, or random albums. If I buy an album from a band I've never heard before and generally like it, I tend to purchase the rest of their discography before I pursue other new bands.

73 out of 100.....all of the first 22.
I'm missing a lot of prog metal and some of the newer bands.

41. I'm so lame. The only ones I've gotten within the last 20 years are
by Big Big Train, Porcupine Tree and Mars Volta. Most I got over 30
years ago. I guess I'm slowing down a little.

I have 34 of the Top 100. Don't enjoy Krautrock, Progressive Metal, RIO/Avant-Prog, Tech/Extreme Prog Metal, Zeuhl and Canterbury Scene all that much, so, that's where the gaps are.

23 just counting my cd collection.
Closer to 30 if I count my LP's that have been stashed away for the last 20 years or so.

Thick as a Brick Dark Side of the Moon Fragile Crime of the Century Lateralus
Definitely need more. I'd probably start with Opeth and Edge of Sanity. Then King Crimson, more Tull, Gentle Giant, Townsend, Focus, Rush, Floyd, Genesis... in addition to the dozens of other non top-100s I want. All I can say is I hope I get some iTunes cards or music store giftcards for my birthday or christmas. Or I might actually have to spend my own money.

I have 77 of the top 100. As for how much this website has influenced my buying, I have getting on for 1000 albums now and most of them would have been discovered through PA.
