Actually, I'm of Polish origin so, among many other countries, I've been also interested in Polish Prog. I surely wouldn't say, it's one of the best Prog countries, but nevetherless, it has produced not so little of highly appreciated albums. It'll be interesting for me to see how much of your attention they've got.
Beginning with my list, one album per band and unranked: Czeslaw Niemen Enigmatic (1969) Marek Grechuta & Anawa Korowód (1971) Skaldowie Krywań Krywań (1972) Budka Suflera Cien Wielkiej Góry (1975) SBB 2: Nowy Horyzont (1975) Indukti S.U.S.A.R. (2004) Riverside Second Life Syndrome (2005) Lunatic Soul Lunatic Soul (2008)
Additional Czesław Niemen Niemen Aerolit (1975) By the way, about the whole continental European Prog scene, if anybody is not acquainted with the book Scented Gardens Of The Mind. A guide to the golden era of progressive rock (1968 - 1980) in more than 20 European countries (2000) by Dag Erik Asbjřrnsen, I can very much recommend it. Riverside are so great, one could pick any of their albums for the list and I'd be perfectly fine.

Maybe it has something to do with being able to understanding the lyrics, as in my opinion, it's not least there the quality appears.

About experiences with the lyrics, by the way, I can tell a little story about how I received H to He Who Am the Only One.
The first times I heard this album, it didn't tell me very much, almost boring. But I got the idea to look at the lyrics, which appeared very suprisingly to be, in my subjective opinion, the best lyrics I've ever seen - very poetic and emotional, and yet, easy to understand and thus very informative and profound. And then, the whole album became a very otherwise experience, as I found the music fit so well with the lyrics, and after some more listnings, this album became simply a "mind blowing" and so great experience. It was something so wonderful new for me because it never happened to me before - at least not so intense at all. Edit: About the Polish lyrics, I can tell that a quite or maybe even very popular musical genre has been Poezja Spiewana (Sung Poetry), which lyrics typically has been based on poetry, and the album Korowód on my list is one of the very most famous and appreciated of that kind. While Cien Wielkiej Gory (Shadow of a Big Mountain), from the former pseudo-socialist Poland, too, has some lyrics amazingly critical towards the system, and one could wonder how that not only could be allowed at that time but even released by Muza, the record company of the state.

Well, that is at least a beginning, Nogbad, or maybe even a very good beginning - considering you're from the other part of the world, and as for instance, I have only 9 albums from the whole South America - which I by the way, plan to return to.

Then, you've been even much more internationally oriented than I have, as I've been very interested in Prog (and similar) all over the world, as well.

I've given this one a listen but I couldn't even get through the first song of it, as I found both the vocal and melodi line too "inspired" by Mariusz Duda and Riverside.

That's no excuse, really!! ![]() I've listed non-PA-listed artistes right from the start in all those best of polls.
you've probably seen that most of my list is instrumental (whether 70's or recent), but that's not question of Polish lyrics During the 90's, I heard dozens of Polish neo-prog bands and a good deal of them sang in English - and I couldn't stand any of them.

I ment some of the albums from the 70's which have been very appreciated internationally, and I listed a couple of them in my list. In the thread, I wrote also a little description of the lyrics. - I've seen quite a lot of your reviews and seem to conclude there's some similarity in ours tastes (for instance, I'm not much for the Polish Neo-Prog, either, or Neo-Prog as a whole - I'm very fond of Script for a Jester's Tear, though). Something entirely else, how do you manage to quote two persons in one post, when the answer opens in a new window when quoting? - At least, when I do it.

I think I'd have more SBB and Millenium in this list if I ever get around to listening to their earlier stuff, so tentatively it goes something like this...
1. SBB - Memento z banalnym tryptykiem 2. Fren - Where Do You Want Ghosts to Reside 3. Lebowski - Galactica 4. Millenium - The Web 5. Retrospective - Latent Avidity 6. Czyszy - Epic May 7. Lizard - W Galerii Czasu 8. Abraxas - Abraxas 9. Immortal Onion - Ocelot of Salvation 10. Lebowski - Cinematic I ought to explore Polish prog music more. I have ancestors that lived in the southeastern part when it was part of the Austrian province of Galicia prior to WWI.
