On allmusic.com they are listed as:

  • Electronic
  • Kraut Rock
  • Club/Dance
  • Proto-Punk
  • Experimental Rock

    • And since Neu! is here, maybe Kraftwerk should be here as well?

    maybe their first two albums.Possible,as well the pre-Kraftwerk ''Tone float''.All great stuff.

    I have Die Mensch-Maschine and Trans-Europe Express and I really love some of it. I think their inclusion should be considered. I think I would say YES, more so because Neu! is already here.

    Tricky call on that one. If Kraftwerk is in as Neu! , then LA Dusseldorf should also come in. Kraftwerk is also very pop and this might get some people started on Devo

    I think Kraftwerk was FAR more experimental than Radiohead, Rhapsody or Marillion.

    Kraftwerk's music was based on rock music, was experimental, electronic, hypnotic etc... I say Krautrock!

    yes you've got to be very carefull with these type of bands,the reason i drew a line at their second album.

    Electronica is definately a prgressive sub-genre - Usually because the music can be long, instrumental and complicated.

    Glass and Riley is not really rock music anymore. Glass and Riley is (modern) classical music and Kraftwerk is on the edge of rock and pure electronics (pop?)

    O yes i have a lot of Isoa Tomita.Was only playing his rendition of 'Pictures at an exhibition' the other day.I still chuckle at the piece ''Chickens hatching out of there eggs''

    That track brings back memories.Alan Freeman would use it as a segue on his Saturday Show whenever he could,which in hind-sight,was quite often.

    Well, I voted 'yes' because of their early stuff. I like what I've heard of their 1970s work and have Autobahn on CD myself, which - for its time - was very progressive music (not to mention good) in my opinion.
