Ivan was that Yes scale or a real scale?

Going for the one 2.5 stars? The Yes album isn't better than Fragile imo.

Hi Gaston: Honestly GFTO was a great disappointment for me, the keyboards sound horrible and most songs are bland, of course except Awaken, which deserves to be in a much better album.

Well, about Yes Album vs Fragile I'll stay with The Yes Album, has all my favorite tracks, Your's is no Disgrace, Starship Trooper, Your Move/All Good People, Clap and A Venture, not a single weak song, all masterpieces, don't give 5 stars because of the terrible production and because some of the tracks sound even better in Yessongs.

Fragile is another outstanding album, but has a couple of inferior tracks, like Cans and Brahms which is not in the level of Yes or Wakeman and We Have Heaven a song that simply I don't like.

But the difference between both ratings is only of 1/2 star, so it's not really significant, because in the Archives I would have to rate both with 4 stars.

Ha, I'm just messing with you bud. Though perhaps Parallels has this "horrible" keyboard, I don't think the rest do, but then you go on to say that Awaken isn't bland so the keys musn't be that bad and Awaken is half the album! I say Awaken and Turn of the century are the best songs. Going for the one may have the wackiest album cover though.

And if anything, Fragile and Yes Album are equal. I think the five individual personel tracks on Fragile to be quite unique and fitting. Especially the Fish.

Cheers,
Gaston

Hey Gaston, don't misunderstand me, Awaken is a great track despite the HORRIBLE keyboards

Now seriously, in some moments of Awaken, Rick changes keys and uses Grand Piano, Hammond Organ plus a mini moog.

The rest of the keyboards sound as tin cans or a cheap Casio.

RE: Keyboards on Awaken: I entirely agree. I've never ranked Going for the One as one of their best, even though a surprising number of fans do. And Wakeman's keyboards has a lot to do with that. The sound in general on that album isn't great. It's very thin and tinny. It was also the first album in a while that was not produced by Eddie Offord and his absense is heard. I think the live versions of the Going for the One songs on Yesshows sound better.

And here are my rankings

Yes: 3
Time and a Word: 3
The Yes Album: 4
Fragile: 4.75 (-.25 because of Can and Brahms--eegads)
Close to the Edge: 5
Tales From Topographic Oceans: 4
Relayer: 4.25 (+ .25 soley because of the lack of Wakeman)
Going for the One: 3
Tormato: 1
Drama: 3
90125: 3 (I like the 80s Yes. It was the last time they sounded fresh)
Big Generator: 3
Union: 0
Talk: 0
Keystudio 1 (Since when did "progressive" mean "regressive?")
Magnification: 2

and I've never heard Open Your Eyes or The Ladder. Do I have to?

I agree with Iván about GFTO  (all I want is Awaken) and I find TFTO rather obtuse in its concept.

How can Drama be rated so low? It's a great album.
