Hi there! My names Aimee and I like a lot of what everyone else on here likes apparently. Aside from an occasional forum post regarding a recipe or cat behaviors or board games, I’m pretty sure this is my first experience on forums so forgive me if I make mistakes. A little bit of backstory to explain any outrageous opinions of mine or defend them if need be:
Back in 2009, I started talking to a guy I went to high school with online and he sent me a link or two off of PA. He actually tested if I was date able by having me listen to First Utterance and Larks Tongue. This was more or less my introduction into the genre or… as they say, where it all went downhill. ![]() We also play board games all the time but probably not the games a lot and we used to use Slacker Radio for a brief period of time. That was nice because I was able to put together songs with artists which is how I learned about Egg , Yes, and the band I consider to be my favorite, Miriodor. ![]() That said, my top favorite albums: 1. Edit Peptide by Bubblemath 2. Parade by Miriodor 3. UZed by Univers Zero 4. Eros by Dün 5. Of Queues & Cures by National Health (I switched this out after previously having Thanks for Flying with Us!) 6. Beat by King Crimson 7. Darwin by Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso 8. Vehicle by MiRthkon 9. The Ikon by Utopia 10. Diabolicus Felinae Pandemonium by Pryapisme And to try and make this post interesting for those who do not care about my personal prog journey, some albums that I feel need more attention in no particular order: Lemures by Balleto di Bronzo Dogged by Dogma by The Ghoulies Fiction by Eskaton Sol Central by Jose Luis Fernandez Ledesma Neo (both this and their s/t are great!) by La Torre Dell’Alchimista Thanks for reading and I’m excited to jump into conversation! Not sure what you know. They became more electronic after Phase IV/Le marriage du ciel et l'enfer, and arguably more "sparse". I love the later material and also what most see as the highlights of the second phase (Häxan, Berlin), but Symphonie pour le jour ou bruleront les cites and Phase IV may be more to your liking. Even later material like Metropolis - Eye Catcher - Phase V is great for me, but then I'm very much into experimental electronic music, and chances are you're not.
By the way the first thing that caught my eye on your list was Beat. I love that album and wrote a five star review of it, but we're a small minority - on average it's still KC's lowest rated regular album. And no, I'm not getting notifications for replies whether or not I'm quoted (it may or may not be possible to arrange for that), but this isn't much of a problem as I check threads in which I had written something earlier anyway.

I think the track I liked was off of Haxan but any time I’ve tried to find it after the fact, the album hasn’t hit me the same. I’ll have to listen more though and I’ll give Haxan another try! And omg we’re seeing Beat in November!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was hoping the documentary would resolve speculations I had with Fripp giving Bruford a hard time and it did not in the slightest. ![]() |

Welcome to ProgArchives, Aimee. You're gonna love it here. On the subject of KC, I love In the Court of the Crimson King, but after that magnificent magnum opus, I generally prefer KC & the Sunshine Band, and talking of drugs, it's just as well pop performers don't have to take a drugs test before appearing on Dutch TV show TopPop. Give It Up for Harry Wayne Casey (KC). Just look at those cocaine eyes!

![]() And I’m certainly not one to judge for I’ve partaken in plenty of extracurricular activities. Definitely not coke though. 😉😆 |
