I’m Aimee & new I guess.

Hi there! My names Aimee and I like a lot of what everyone else on here likes apparently. Aside from an occasional forum post regarding a recipe or cat behaviors or board games, I’m pretty sure this is my first experience on forums so forgive me if I make mistakes. A little bit of backstory to explain any outrageous opinions of mine or defend them if need be:

Back in 2009, I started talking to a guy I went to high school with online and he sent me a link or two off of PA. He actually tested if I was date able by having me listen to First Utterance and Larks Tongue. This was more or less my introduction into the genre or… as they say, where it all went downhill.      At that point in time I became a pretty big fan of 70s prog, specifically Canterbury, symphonic, eclectic, and electronic. I remember hearing Mirage by Camel for the first time and being in awe with Nimrodel/Procession/The White Rider. Of course my now husband was so excited to have someone to share music with, he threw whatever at me to see what stuck and Camel, Gentle Giant, Anglagard, and Banco definitely did. Eventually he showed me A Wizard, A True Star and that was a life changing moment for me, so much so that I have a tattoo with part of the fun album cover art.

We also play board games all the time but probably not the games a lot and we used to use Slacker Radio for a brief period of time. That was nice because I was able to put together songs with artists which is how I learned about Egg , Yes, and the band I consider to be my favorite, Miriodor.
   Once falling for Miriodor I found myself looking for anything similar to them in sound and I’ve since learned that it just won’t happen.

That said, my top favorite albums:

5. Of Queues & Cures by National Health (I switched this out after previously having Thanks for Flying with Us!)

9. The Ikon by Utopia
10. Diabolicus Felinae Pandemonium by Pryapisme

And to try and make this post interesting for those who do not care about my personal prog journey, some albums that I feel need more attention in no particular order:

Welcome to the site! Your top album list is very idiosyncratic, I like it!  Many of these are very much to my taste. I don't know all of them and will check out those I don't. Have you ever tried out Art Zoyd?

I think the track I liked was off of Haxan but any time I’ve tried to find it after the fact, the album hasn’t hit me the same. I’ll have to listen more though and I’ll give Haxan another try!

And omg we’re seeing Beat in November!! It’s surprising to me that Beat doesn’t get more love! Of all the bands to live through the 80s, I’d say it’s quite the feat that King Crimson would be one of the few to do it! I feel like that’s the King Crimson that was the happiest together… or should I say the most upBEAT? But I’ve built up a whole tale in my head with Bruford going to be on drugs with Gong, briefly pal around with Phil, only to come back to Fripp requesting he take a drug test after those tours.    Adrian was such a fun vocalist for them and of course Tony is just as goofy and talented. I don’t feel like Three of a Perfect Pair is anywhere near as good as Beat but I do feel the good vibes on that album as well.

I was hoping the documentary would resolve speculations I had with Fripp giving Bruford a hard time and it did not in the slightest.

well I can’t imagine Bruford getting intentionally that messed up! You know… him and Hillage get to talking about how crazy Daevid is and maybe sharing a joint or something.   A few years ago I read about the letter that Daevid wrote to Bill when they parted ways. It’s every bit as kooky as one would imagine. (I guess I’m assuming that Psychedelic Paul knows more about Gong than he might. lol)

And I’m certainly not one to judge for I’ve partaken in plenty of extracurricular activities. Definitely not coke though. 😉😆
