The fourth of eight Proxy Music polls where the chances of anyone other than Roxy Music winning are about as likely as seeing a former punk rocker selling Country Life butter. Smile

I like that Ferry album. This Is Tomorrow Calling and Tokyo Joe are great tunes!

The UK got the uncensored cover for the 'Country Life' album, whilst the USA got this one. Smile

^ That boring US album cover is all of the Country without the Life, back when album covers featuring pin-up models were the bread and butter of Roxy Music albums, especially in the case of Country Life, when I'd buy an album adorned with beautiful girls just for The Thrill of It All. Smile

Not true. I have an Atco records USA release that has the lovely women on the cover. Maybe they were removed later?

^ Ironically, the only Roxy Music album I bought on the original vinyl was Avalon, which didn't feature any lovely women on the cover at all, so maybe I'm not so shallow after all. Tongue

The lady in the costume on the 'Avalon' cover is Lucy Helmore, Ferry's girlfriend (soon to be wife).

They divorced in 2003, and Lucy Helmore unfortunately took her own life in 2018.

I was very disappointed with the Manifesto, Flesh + Blood, and Avalon covers after the standard of the previous five. Smile

Country Life. Roxy's best album.
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Avalon is by far my favourite Roxy Music album, but my favourite Proxy Music album overall is Roxymphony by Manzanera & Mackay. Thumbs Up

A 'complete' recording from the 'Country Life' tour in Newcastle in 1974. This album omits 'The Bogus Man' which can be found from that concert on the 'Viva' Roxy Music live album. Smile

Live at the Apollo (2001) is the best Live performance of Brian Ferry and Roxy Music I've ever seen. Oh Yeah! Thumbs Up
