89: Funny Ways - Gentle Giant

Short track, but develops nicely, wish it was longer! My first listen to any Gentle Giant - think I might like this lot….

88: The Fall Of The House Of Usher - Alan Parsons Project

Already know APP quite well, and this lovely short piece reminded me that I really need to invest more time in them again….

I vaguely know three songs from part 1/10, but it could be 2112 before I get around to listening to all 100 songs. Tongue

86: The Odyssey - Symphony X

I have The Divine Wings Of Tragedy and like it a lot, so it’s no surprise that I enjoyed this track as well. I’m a big fan of Dream Theater and Ayreon, and Symphony X are quite similar. Once again, a band I need to play more of….

Unknown band to me, but this mostly instrumental epic was full of wonder - superb!

This is an awesome project!

Harmonium and Bacamarte were some of my happiest discoveries back in the day.

Hoping Arachnoid from France finds a spot.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

This is quite an ambitious project, Leroy! I'm rooting for you but I fear you have bitten off something far bigger than any human can possibly chew (much less digest)--especially since you've chosen to include the entire 65 years of progressive rock music!!!

I began a similar project several years back (and occasionally drift back to it) in which I was trying to "objectively" rate all of prog's 9+ minute epics (at first just the "classic era" epics but eventually all of them). I even established a 10-category criteria list to rate them using qualities quite similar to your own. But, alas! the project turned out too overwhelming. Now, if you're including every song possible, I worry for your sanity!
For example: are you including all of the multi-disc Colossus Magazine/Musea Records releases of the past 20 years? If not, you are surely biased against some of the greatest prog songs ever created. Also, are you going through the entire catalogues of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Buckethead, Frank Zappa, Alio Die, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and the many, many other truly prolific prog artists?

Again, I would never trust myself with such a task: "completion" would be an unachievable end!

Hi, Drew! Nice to talk to you again. What motivated me to undertake the creation of this own list is my instagram page. I have over 40,000 followers, but not all of them are due to progressive rock. The vast majority have made the decision to follow the page because of the popular rock content from my country. I have thought that doing a job of this magnitude and such a gigantic commitment can introduce many people to this beautiful environment of the vast line of music.

It does not pretend to be the best top ever created but a comforting and pertinent introduction to those who have not listened to progressive rock yet or to those who have little knowledge. Of course there is also the idea of bringing new songs even to people who know, in the rare case that they haven't heard them.

Besides, it is a reality that so many songs will be unfairly left out - imagine all the progressive masterpieces that have been born! Everything is thought for the thousands of followers that I have, to whom life has not yet presented this music that we all marvel at.

Greetings!
-Will I see you tonight?
-I never make plans that far ahead.

84 - East Coast Racer - Big Big Train

I’m a big fan of the English Electric albums, and East Coast Racer is a gem. This band deserve their success and the loss of David Longdon is a terrible tragedy, that hopefully they will overcome.

82: Forgotten Sons - Marillion

Big Marillion fan, of both eras, and although this is not a track I would put anywhere near the top of their tree, it’s still a decent effort!
