I bet the sheer fact that Squonk got any radio play has people ignoring it subconsciously, lol. I could've put a ton of prog stuff in my list, but I had a feeling everyone else here would do that and I wanted to show some more of the great pop years some love. For my money Genesis didn't release a dud album after their headscratchingly uncharacteristic debut, though I'll admit I've never heard Calling All Stations (would be interesting to see if anyone mentions anything from that record in this thread).

Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

Always interesting to see how one person's dud is another's favorite. I note that practically every track on ATOTT, W&W, and ATTWT was named by at least one person on this thread (and the majority from Duke and Abacab) so now we know that whenever we accuse these albums of including some fillers, we are insulting the taste of someone on this thread . Maybe it speaks to the quality of Genesis' work during these years that almost every song has at least one fan here. The one I'm a bit surprised has not done better is Squonk. I remember that one playing on the radio quite a bit, at least in Montreal. Then again, we're still waiting for a tally. |

No, I was just counting up the collective points for Father Christmas before he suddenly disappeared on his sleigh.

I'm kind of stunned so many people are voting for the dreary "Heathaze". This song sounds like an outtake from Tony's A Curious Feeling album and absolutely destroys the momentum created by the first five songs on Duke. I can see this song functioning as a "b" side for a single, but it absolutely did not belong on Duke. At least it's not as bad as "Please Don't Ask".

The only thing is, that's not my own personal list. It's a collective list of everyone's votes so far.

My top 10 consists of tracks only from the first 3 post-Gabriel albums, though Heathaze, Turn it On Again and Keep It Dark would make it if 13 equaled 10. In rough order of preference:
1. One for the Vine 2. Ripples 3. Entangled 4. Blood on the Rooftops 5. Burning Rope 6. Undertow 7. Mad Man Moon 8. Snowbound 9. A Trick of the Tail 10.Afterglow |

Here are the first 10 that come to mind
Turn It On Again Behind The Lines Just A Job To Do Domino No Reply At All Ripples No Son Of Mine Eleventh Earl Of Mar Afterglow Land Of Confusion I love the pop era as well. It's all great. Except ATTWT is a little lacking to me, like they hadn't figured out how to move on from Hackett yet, and the second half of WCD has a lot of filler. The rest is pretty much gold straight through for me.
