I enjoyed T Cat's down to earth review on Current 93's EP In Menstrual Night, which has to be their most difficult and strange sounding pieces of music.

Nice review of the most recent King Gizzard venture, this time delving into Neo-Psychedelia and Dream Pop primarily. Though I don't dislike this record, I understand the criticisms in this review and they're well communicated. Being the resident King Gizzard fan around here, I have to say that it is one of my lesser favorite King Gizzard records. While the highlights are still there, there's an equal amount of tracks that just don't stand out or stick with me and unfortunately, this records had the shortest shelf life of any KG record. None of it is explicitly bad, but I'd rate it 3.5 stars, I think the other release from this year 'LW' is easily the superior album.

Two great reviews for the new black midi album by mental_hygeine and tempest_77! Cannot agree enough with everything you both have said, it's honestly pretty high on my all time album rankings. It's so phenomenal and album 3 is on the way!

^Agreed. All the black midi reviews have been very good. Personally, I love Cavalcade. I didn't know about a third album, thanks - hope they don't rush it out for the sake of popularity.

As someone else mentioned, I can't believe how young those guys are. All in their 20s or there about.

I can't comfirm the age of the drummer, but the other two members (there's apparently another member who's currently on hiatus from the band as well) are both 21. What makes this even crazier is that in 2018 they shared the stage with Damo Suzuki of Can before they even released their debut album. Imagine doing that at 18!

This one is for GrumpyProgFans more negative review on the new black midi, I still just wanna say I appreciate you checking it out, actually was wondering what your thoughts in particular would be on it. Hope you keep it in mind and maybe revisit it in the future, but I get that the vocals notably might be hard to wrap your head around. I kinda look at them like a strange offshoot of Bowie style vocals.

I do wonder though, you mention Djent a couple times and I’ve always associated that with low tuned rhythmic 8 string guitar playing. The parts you mention seem like just dissonant diminished chords, which are often paired with the chugging. Was wondering what the actual definition of Djent is

A great review from BufordFreak on the proto prog/pysch rock gem that is the debut album from the Collectors.

Thanks to Matti for his review on Tori Amos' live album of 1991 material. I really appreciated his passion and desire to educate others on the existence of this little gem.

Also, I absolutely LOVED Brendan Schroer ("Necrotica")'s review of Björk's Vespertine. It was one of the most raw, poetic, and impressionistic reviews I've read here in a long time--very enjoyable (and appreciated). Love to see/hear the emotional side of "criticism".

Thank you! Poetry's one of my main hobbies, so I try to merge my poetry and reviewing together on occasion Smile

Thanks! I wouldn't count that review among my best ones -- and Finnforest's earlier review was very good.
I consider being at my best (and certainly most motivated) with first reviews. Big smile

Thanks! I wouldn't count that review among my best ones -- Yeah, but there was just something so emotional that came out in your review--like you were really, truly, child-like excited about the music, the album, trying to make more people aware of its existence. and Finnforest's earlier review was very good.

Brandon's latest on Katatonia from 2001 was good too. I love the way he conveys the mood of the music. Excellent!

Thank you very much. Been a Katatonia fan for a long time, and it was pretty cathartic to write such a passionate review for one of my favorites in their discography

Nice to see a slew of reviews from Squonk19, even if they posted first in The Progressive Aspect. (Bloody traitor. ).

I've been enjoying Jasna (prog_traveller!!)'s reviews for a little while, but I really loved his dive into Mahavishnu Orchestra's debut albums--including a great summation of the contribution that Billy Cobham made to music and the art of drumming.

Another shout out to Brendan Schroer (Necrotica) for today's posted review of Steely Dan's Aja. Awesome use of the context of 2001's Two Against Nature!

Admins: I'll be looking for the addition of a new sub- : "Yacht Rock"!Big smile

Yes is indeed. Having been made to feel as old as dirt with Brandon's references to the unwashed masses hailing Steely Dan's Aja as being both Yacht Rock and Boomer music, in his excellent review, I was soothed by the return of Lazland with excellent reviews of two albums right up my ally, the new ones by Big Big Train and Frost*. You see, there is a cure for aging, even if it's only in the mind.
