Probably the most obscure 1969 album for me is Van der Graaf Generator - The Aerosol Grey Machine. Not very obscure, I know, but it's probably one of their lesser known albums.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Thanx :) I would add The Flock - The Flock as the honorable mention. It's surely not worst than any album above.

of these 29 albums we have 13. I am curious about the Melmoth album; both band name (named after a horror novel by Charles Maturin) and album title (which translates as "The Shop Window of Drunkenesses") are very interesting. according to Discogs the album is from 1970 though. Rateyourmusic gives the release date as 1969

I don't think I know much from 1969 that is really obscure. As you should expect I love Holger Czukay's Canaxis album, and not everyone knows the wonderful Mercator Projected by East of Eden. Other than that my 1969 picks would be pretty well known around here (Renaissance and VDGG are listed among the top 20 1969 albums on PA, I wouldn't call that obscure, as are Monster Movie and Phallus Dei).

since the Melmoth album apparently received an award in 1969 Discogs must be off. Melmoth is an alias of Dashiell Hedayat, who was backed by very early Gong for his album "Obsolete"; we have that album

Oh, this one is great! Another gem, that comes to mind is Manfred Mann Chapter Three selftitled album - soaked in jazz, but with song structures mantained <3

Can't get much more obscure than West Siberian prog, so I'll recommend debut albums of the two most important Finnish prog bands:
Wigwam - Hard N' Horny Tasavallan Presidentti - Tasavallan Presidentti They both did better albums later, but these are still well worth checking out. Can are far from obscure but do check out Monster Movie if you haven't already.

It's actually hard for me to remember which ones of my albums were released in 69 but there's one that I immediately recall since I reviewed it not so long ago.

Hmm isn't Skin Alley from 1970? It's a great album though.

Wikipedia and YouTube say 1970, but most other sources (Discogs, Rateyourmusic, Allmusic etc.) say 1969.
