This is a poll for classic British prog album debuts from the late-1960's and 70's era.
I'm guessing King Crimson will win this poll although my vote goes to the Moody Blues. ![]() By the way, I know the Moody Blues "Days of Future Passed" isn't officially their debut album, but it is their first prog album with the classic line-up.

I do not care for a few albums in there... Voted for Yes thinking few others will and then I saw Camel, their debut is one of my favorites. Oh well...

I've not heard them all, but of those I know, ELP is my favourite debut, closely followed by The Enid, Moody Blues and KC fairly equally.
I think the Moody Blues had an album out before DOFP though. DOFP is their debut album, in the same way that Trespass is the Genesis debut. |

I was conveniently ignoring the fact that "Days of Future Passed" isn't the Moody Blues debut album just so I could vote for it. I know they released an album titled "The Magnificent Moodies" back in 1965, but "Days of Future Passed" was the first proggy album with the classic line-up.

Tough poll. Lots of great albums in here but I ended up voting for an old favourite of mine in Mr. Fantasy.
Caravan is close though. Edited by Guldbamsen - January 23 2020 at 04:14 |

Comes down to Floyd or KC for me. Probably KC but Piper was an amazing record which they spent years in the shadow of. Actually the same thing goes for 'Court', come to think of it - arguably more so.

I almost forget to include Traffic in the poll, so it's a good thing I remembered to include them at the last minute.

KC or Gentle Giant for me. GG gives me more enjoyment though now - so that's my vote.

I didn't even have to look at the list -- it's Crimson baby. Nothing like that had ever been heard before. After KC, ELP's debut is also topnotch. Others I rank as excellent from this list are Camel, Caravan, Gentle Giant, Jade Warrior, Moody Blues and National Health. They're all good though.

Never forget about traffic! That can be awefully dangerous ![]() Hmmm..I guess I missed Piper from the list. Also a possible pick but these last couple of years I’ve been spinning those early Traffic albums far more frequently. So many great songs and I genuinely dig the way these guys interconnect. It’s ‘sloppy’ and extremely tight all at the same time, and then there is this incredibly warm and natural timbre to the instruments that adds this beautifully natural expression to the music. Yum. |

KC, PF, and ELP nailed it straight from the start, and the Camel album is also fine. Still I'm voting National Health, which is not as "important" maybe, but a total joy from beginning to end.

If I was honest, it would be Piper. But because Music In a Doll´s House has been one of the greatest albums I´ve heard in 2010-decade, I vote it!

Did you read Paul's post with the poll? You're about the third or fourth to raise an issue addressed initially. C'mon people.

King Crimson > ELP > Camel
But those three tower over the other options IMHO.
