Genesis was my favorite of the choices. I saw the Resident's mentioned. I'm a bigger fan of the latter years. Mostly what Wiki defines as the "Storyteller" era but starting with Have A Bad Day but that only gets me up to six that I actually have including

Pictures at an Exhibition could be considered legitimately as it was completely fresh material. I would then go to Works Vol One and Two. Both are underrated in my opinion. Tangerine Dream - I absolutely love their music in the period 1979 to 1986 so I would pick 1) Force Majeure 2) Tangram 3) Exit 4) White Eagle 5) Hyperborea ) 6) Le Parc 7) Underwater Sunlight only White Eagle is a tiny bit of a let down imo corrected my list as Poland is live album (oops!) From the list I would choose Rush, but shift the streak to _2112_ through _Signals_.
I would very much wish to choose Pink Floyd but I can't think of any streak that long that doesn't have dramatic swings of low to high. I very much like everything from _Pipers..._ to _Animals_ and feel Floyd's high points eclipse anything done by Rush, but Rush is much more consistent. All time, any artist, it has to be Autechre. I can think of no other artist who has so consistently made great music throughout their entire career and would put their streak as _Amber_ to _NTS Sessions_. That's twelve albums and only leaves out their first, _Incunabula_, which suffers slightly for sounding a teeny bit amateurish and dated by comparison. Autechre's streak is all the more impressive because they still continue to innovate and still continue to set new highs. How many artists who have recorded for 30 years are making their best music in their mature years, all the while their early efforts still hold strong? Another good contender would be Nurse With Wound, though culling out seven proper, chronologically current studio albums from in between all the many collections of curiosities would be difficult. Coil is a good contender as well, with a very strong streak of nine from _Horse Rotorvator_ through _Music To Play In the Dark2_, though one has to disregard a couple anomalies in the time line.

That would make it only 6 albums though and not seven. You would have to include GUP and I wanted focus more on their proggy material since this is after all a prog site. ;) CoS to Signals would make more sense, however, most seem to think their prog era ended with MP.

Oops! You are very correct, so I'll append that to include _Grace Under Pressure_. Heck, _Fly By Night_ to _Grace Under Pressure_ is a pretty good streak in its own right. I do think _Grace_ is an overall better and more consistent album than either _Fly_ or _Caress_.

For the options presented in the poll, Yes all the way.
VDGG would be a close second, followed by Gentle Giant third, Genesis fourth.

I'm bumping this because it's a good idea and topics close fast these days for some reason.

Why bother? That jerk who started it forgot to include King Crimson and that's the band who's album is on his avatar. SMH.

I would change Rush - A Farewell to Kings through to Power Windows. That last album never gets enough credit methinks. That's what I like. You can like what you want, so there!

Well, I didn't include any post MP Rush albums(and I mentioned this on here before)because I don't consider anything after MP or at the very least signals to be prog(or at least prog in the strictest sense). They are good albums but they are more like synth rock and not really prog imo. I could have maybe done COS to Signals but that's about as far as I would go.

I agree, Power Windows is woefully underrated.
But I'm not gonna change a seven album run to one that excludes 2112? Also to get to Power Windows, you've gotta' go through Grace Under Pressure, one of my least favorite Rush albums. Come to think of it, even though Rush is my favorite band, I can't think of a seven album string without a significant dip somewhere. Which is why I went with the Moodies. DOFP through Seventh Sojourn is flawless. Nobody can touch it for consistent excellence without anything falling below a top shelf level.
