For Hawkwind I'd go s/t through Quark.

Good call. Great run there by Caravan. From the list it's gotta be Gentle Giant, no album in their run that's even close to being weak. Although not a prog act, Steely Dan should at least get a mention somewhere in this thread. Can't Buy a Thrill - Gaucho.. talk about a run.

So Rush is my favorite group and just about any seven album run in their 19 studio album catalog is gonna get high marks from me.
But when you hit the number 7, really, the only choice is The Moody Blues.

Every option has at least one album I don't like much. I choose Klaus Schulze, his first ten albums are a great run.

From the list, I'd have to go with Yes.
But I would also respectfully submit for consideration Fates Warning: Perfect Symmetry to Theories Of Flight. And also Queen: Queen II to Innuendo. Yes, it's more than seven albums each, but I think it falls within the arc and curve, scope and sphere of the topic before us. Any thoughts? (Oh dang! How could I forget the monumental run of Menudo from Los Fantasmas to Let's Talk About Love?!?!?!? ) |

And, in all seriousness now, I can't believe I didn't mention The Beatles...

Don't worry folks. At some point I'm going to do a "do over" and include King Crimson. I'll include a few other bands who you want to see added and omit some of the bands on here with the least number of votes(sorry SB). You can mention on here which bands you want to see but please keep them as close to prog as possible. Also, I hate to disappoint you but I don't plan on including Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Black Sabbath or the Beatles.

Steely Dan, with honourable mentions to Gentle Giant, KC and Yes. For Yes I would start with the s/t debut, which I think is lovely, and end with Relayer - GFTO I find too cheesy for words.

It's obviously either Yes or Genesis but I would add XTC, Deerhoof and Neal Morse.
XTC White Music Go 2 Drums & Wires Black Sea English Settlement Mummer The Big Express Skylarking Oranges & Lemons Nonsuch Apple Venus Wasp Star DEERHOOF Apple O Milk Man The Runners Four Friend Opportunity Offend Maggie Deerhoof Vs. Evil Breakup Song La Isla Bomita The Magic Mountain Moves NEAL MORSE Testimony One Question Mark Sola Scriptura Lifeline Testimony 2 Momentum The Grand Experiment Similitude Of A Dream I'm pretty impressed with those runs too.

Great call! Picking a run of 7 though is very difficult for me, as they have some slightly weaker albums in the middle, and I don't care much for the first two. Here's my top 7: White Music Go 2 Drums & Wires Black Sea English Settlement Mummer The Big Express Skylarking Oranges & Lemons Nonsuch Apple Venus Wasp Star Hmmmm. Tricky... White Music Go 2 Drums & Wires Black Sea English Settlement Mummer The Big Express Skylarking Oranges & Lemons Nonsuch Apple Venus Wasp Star Ok, that's pretty f**kin' great! I'd have to go with that. |

As a big fan of the Menel-era, I would have to say that any run of seven albums by IQ would be top of my list, and I literally wouldn't be able to choose one set over any other..... But from this list, I chose Marillion; it's probably their best overall era, and none of their first seven are poor albums. (Altough it was tempting to vote for Genesis to increase their lead over Yes, but I have to be honest with myself!)
