Just curious -- Adding the rating scores for each of the seven albums noted gives this:

Genesis - 30.48
Gentle Giant - 29.52
Pink Floyd - 29.37
VDGG - 29.05
Yes - 28.98
Porcupine Tree - 28.50
Rush - 28.36
Jethro Tull - 28.30
Marillion - 27.41
Eloy - 27.38
Flower Kings - 26.88
Moody Blues - 26.62
Camel - 26.31
Spock's Beard - 25.75

If you change Rush to 2112 to Grace Under Pressure, their score goes up to 29.12.

King Crimson is missing and would be 29.27 for In the Court to Red.

Gentle Giant.

The quality through those albums was superb and consistently good throughout

I like Trespass, but don't rate it as highly as Selling England or Foxtrot and the quality was more variable through those Genesis albums IMO.

Black Sabbath had the best seven album run but from that list I voted Pink Floyd.
If Soft Machine had a more stable line up they could have given a good run for their money.

Voted  for Yes but if it was Nursery Cryme to Duke I may have voted for Genesis.

That would be eight albums though and not seven.

If one cheats a little, Renaissance had 7.  From Prologue to A Song for all Seasons, including Live at Carnegie Hall.  Since that live album was the introduction to the band for many, and sometimes their only possession by the band, it might make sense to include it

Everyone is going on about how King Crimson were not on the list(something I didn't do on purpose)but not one person mentioned the fact that I also forgot Kansas. Kansas to Audio Visions should be on there as well(although admittedly mainly for their first five).

I said early on no live albums. If I made an exception for one band I'd have to make an exception for others. I'm sure Yes would have more votes if I made it TYA to GFTO with Yessongs in there but it doesn't seem right to include live albums since it's mostly material from the previous albums.

hmm, well we could include Renaissance Mach 1 albums which would really please at least one person who has been trolling these posts and conveying his love for that aggregation and his meh-ness for Mach 2.  If we did it would be an 8 album run from renaissance thru a song for all seasons.  Many people really love the s/t but I think the followup "Illusion" is slightly better.

Not sure who has been trolling the posts, but I like pre-Haslam Renaissance (bit surprised it often seems to get neglected). The debut album to Novella is pretty strong methinks. Instead of Mach One, or Mark One as I would sooner call it, it might be called Relfaissance.

Hmmm...sounds like an idea for a future poll LOL  ELP should get a few votes with this streak of 7:

1) ELP
2) Tarkus
3) Pictures at an Exhibition
4) Live at the Mar Y Sol Festival
5) Trilogy
6) Brain Salad Surgery
7) Welcome Back My Friends

In my opinion a "run" should also offer some consistency in terms of band members, band phase etc. I don't think it'd make a proper "run" integrating two largely different bands under the same name with a minimum element of continuity. Neither do I think that King Crimson had a "run" including the early 80s trilogy together with Red and the albums before, as much as this would in my view shatter any competition in terms of the sum of the individual qualities of these albums. This would lack continuity, so it shouldn't count.

I could easily do ^ that one (great run, Crim), or Yes, or Renaissance, or, with some adjustment, Eloy and  Tangerine Dream.

But how about this run? I mean, BÖC did do *some* proggy stuff!

I. Tyranny and Mutation
II. Secret Treaties
III. Agents of Fortune
IV. Spectres
V. Mirrors
VI. Cultosaurus Erectus
VII. Fire of Unknown Origin

And for Hawkwind (this is just my take, as I cheated and omitted P.X.R.5, which is an album recorded earlier than its release date suggests, and has some live performances):

I. Warrior on the Edge of Time
II. Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music
III. Quark, Strangeness and Charm
IV. Sonic Attack
V. Choose Your Masques
VI. Church of Hawkwind
VII. The Chronicle of the Black Sword

1-Yes and Genesis
2-ELP, Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, VDGG, Rush, King Crimson and Camel
3-Dream Theater, Eloy, Renaissance
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Just wondering if anyone thinks "Feel Euphoria" is the reason Spock's Beard didn't get any votes(so far anyway). I always hear people say it's a weak one. However, I have Octane(which is rated lower)and don't think that's a bad album.
