I am nominating "it" from the lamb....very poor track...doesn't seem to fit with the album at all....think how much better it could have been with a proper epic as a finale...

love the song---album is a mix of heavy topics and humor---IMO it had to end on a funny note---making fun of themselves and us the listener is a smart point to make---and Hackett guitar riff is very cool.

I don't mind throwaway songs at the end of albums.
I do get annoyed by the "secret bonus tracks" that some bands (or producers) stick on the end of CDs.
The last song ends, and there's still 10 minutes ticking away on the player.
After a long silence, a song, or often a senseless sound collage starts.
I don't mind the extra music (even if it's not quite music) but making us wait to hear it is obscene.

The only gimmick in that vein I appreciate is the Monty Python LP "Matching Tie & Handkerchief",  that had 2 sets of grooves on one side, so you could play the album and miss a complete side of the LP, or play it a second time, and think you had a different album.  That was clever.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Are You Ready Eddie? from ELP's Tarkus is an obvious candidate

I can see why people don't like that track, but I'd take it over any 80's or later Genesis track.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Voivod ending/ruining the CD-version of the concept-album Dimension Hatröss with a totally pointless version of the Batman-theme.

I consider "it" as a great closing track to my favourite Genesis album.

Never liked the way they tacked on Her Majesty after The End on Abbey Road. A short, worthless little ditty that somewhat detracts from the timeless message the parting Beatles instilled in their listeners. Legend has it that it was a mistake that it was included in the final mix.

Gentle Giant - Gentle Giant - "The Queen": I would have rather it ended with "Why Not?". They probably thought that it would be a cool and fun way to end the album, but to me it's lame and too gimmicky.

Thank You on Bursting at the Seams by Strawbs. An excellent album, but that track stinks.

The end of "Heart of the Sunrise" when it stops, and after a few seconds, you hear "We Have Heaven" again. Not that I don't like it, but it ends the album and the song in a weird way, at lest to my ears. What is the purpose of doing that remains a mystery to me.

I would second 'It' from Lamb lies Down. I remember a critic raving about it once and I remember thinking that he must be crazy.

It was originally part of the medley that fell between Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam, which you can hear because the first hit of Her Majesty is the last chord from Mean Mr. Mustard. Paul McCartney didn't like it and instructed the engineer to destroy the tape, but it was studio/label (can't remember which) policy that Beatles recordings weren't allowed to be destroyed, so the engineer tagged it onto the end of the album.

One of my favorite bands, Rush, wins this contest rather easily with the album closer from Roll The Bones, titled "You Bet Your Life." All these years later, I still can't believe they recorded such crap.
