Yeah sure why not? I did it myself - the world doesn't stop at the PA borders. Let's just try and make this mostly about prog releases - or at the very least artists who are on the site so as it doesn't get moved to general music discussions

Horribly behind this year. But some standouts in PA have been:
Sannhet- Revisionist Zs- Xe Liturgy- The Ark Work Bjork- Vulnicura Outside PA: Kendrick Lamar- To Pimp a Butterfly Viet Cong- s/t Kamasi Wahington- The Epic Father John Misty- I Love You, Honeybear Sufjan Steven- Carrie and Lowell Pleasant surprises: Liturgy's new album was much better than its lead single suggested. The album has it's flaws, but it's probably one of the more inventive things I've heard this decade. Turnover's Peripheral Vision is a surprisingly literate indie rock album by a pop-punk band. Elements of Cocteau Twins, The Smiths, and the Cure. Not the most original thing on the market, but it was definitely a nice surprise. Edited by Polymorphia - June 10 2015 at 16:07 |

Hey Tony - nice list there. I see we tend to go for a lot of the same stuff residing outside of PA. Hell I even think you were the one who got me into Viet Cong (thanks).
How do you feel about Panda Bear btw? I really dig this latest of his with all the abrasive and fluttering electronics.

![]() I do like Person Pitch a good bit (never listened to Tomboy). I definitely want to get his new album but I've been buying a lot of the albums that I streamed last year. I usually get a slew of new releases around my birthday and Christmas. Panda Bear is certainly one I intend to get. |

Yeah, that should be interesting to hear. I hope they don't steer away from the current rather trashy post punk sound of theirs. There is however room for a lot of things to happen inside that palette methinks. I've been following Panda Bear since Tomboy. Is it just me or doesn't he have a kind of Beach Boys surfer quality to him? In fact, I hear this in a lot of other popular artists. Django Django, Fleet Foxes, Animal Collective (big surprise!), Temples and to a lesser extent Grizzly Bear all have that Beach Boys surfer thang going on in one way or another. I'm not complaining btw - I happen to like all of these ![]() |

I'm really liking the recent post-punk bands. Viet Cong, Iceage, Savages, and Protomartyr, especially. |

I dig Iceage as well. They're getting pretty big here in Denmark.
I have still to catch one of their shows though, which irritates me a little. I've certainly had my chance. It's just not that often I come across modern rock bands from my home country that i actually dig.

I can relate. They played near me recently, but I couldn't go simply because it was a 21+ venue. They don't come to the southern US that often, unfortunately.

That's right - they've been touring The States. There's a documentary series on Danish tv about it. Oh Land (another Danish musician) did the same - touring wise as well as the tv bit.
