Oh sure they did. We learned it all in school, and I read a lot of books about it when I was still young (well younger than I am now). I even tried to learn runes ones, but there wasn't enough geek in me to continue.
But, if you're into that, better not play prog on your date, but instead organise a Polterabend with your friends.

I am interested however all I can gather with this above, the Germanic tribes are very much related to Anglo-Saxons and more were also descendants of the Svenskas It is all very interesting really, the Lombards, the Goths and the Vandals. Somehow all these manage to drift to Italy too were the land was beautiful and fertile

I am latin and as far as I am aware I do not have Germanic blood. It's a good thing that if you both are from Germanic blood and write in runes, however I do not know what that means I am a nincompoop btw (just saying)

Out of the above list I would go with either Genesis or
Yes. However, for that special someone
you can’t go wrong with Coltrane for Lovers by John Coltrane. |

Last time I checked I was a "chick" and the song choices (related to these bands) here for me are so wrong.

I went with "Trick" because it's the most romantic on the list. But for my write-in I'd go with ELP's "Trilogy." It used to do the "trick" with the fair maidens I courted back in the 70s. Just sayin'...

Really? I was born in the dark ages, true, but for courting I've always relied on Renaissance and medieval music ;-) actually, my very first girlfriend had Marillion blasting Margareth down the street just for me....

If the dear lady liked Zappa, that very fact would intrigue me for sure. As far as music most likely to produce a happy ending I offer Spectral Mornings (the song) looping over and over again.

Kind of funny to see the the question connected to prog songs from the dark ages... if you're on a date now, isn't there a large chance the lady in question is more familiar with more modern (prog) music. Of course, I'm assuming things concerning age and interests here, but I'd sooner play a song by The Tangent, Ayreon, Pain of Salvation or even more recent on a date (maybe even Oceans 5 or Corvus Stone )
Or something Italian, like Unreal City - for some reason Italian vocals seem to work in some cases, . Edited by Angelo - April 17 2015 at 04:16 |

On a different note, The Dark Elf, You don't like my Beatles tracks nor do you like my happy fav pop track Dexy's Midnight Runners. However, I do not give up easily, this bounce, bounce, bounce, happy bounce, ta tatitititititum ... track is for you

Well, it would be an effective test case...but agreed it might be a bit much for a first date. Maybe after a few weeks. Once you've gotten to know each other. Edited by emigre80 - April 15 2015 at 21:42 |

If she listens to prog it's not a date...it's a life long engagement True Story: The girl I liked (she became my gf) loved and loves prog, she was my best friend though, I was talking about dates in general. Most people don't like prog (or don't even know what it is)

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

wouldn't prog during a date be a great way to find out if you've met the right person?
