Please, for the love of the flying spaghetti monster, don't let genesis win this poll! I may have to back my bags and leave the forums forever

Where most bands over the course of decades begin to rehash and become their own cover bands, King Crimson have continually reinvented themselves and pushed the boundaries of new genres in the most astounding way, they embody the progressive ideal more than any other classic band to me. In addition to that their live performances over their whole career, especially the kind of improvisations they did in the Wetton era that none of the other big 6 come close to. But... while I also love their albums and they haven't made a bad one, when I finish any KC album I don't feel taken aback like I do with the best Genesis albums or Yes, or Pink Floyd, for some reason it doesn't translate to albums on the same level as those bands for me. Trespass through Wind & Wuthering is an incredible period of albums that begins to make most KC albums look like pale studies.
Reluctantly going with Genesis.

No other two bands can have this fight with so many votes.
Maybe Yes and Pink Floyd can come close to this battle
I voted for Genesis, but my respect to Bob Fripp and Co.

Same for me. They are tying now that I write this (57-57). Very exciting semi-final!

Please remind me what happens if there is tie, how you break it, and how you determine when the voting is over.

Votes are open for a week and I think on a tie brake Micky goes for whichever band has the higher rated album on here, which in this case would be Genesis as Selling England... is rated something like No 1 or 2 on the Top 100 list.

actually... I was thinking of keeping them open longer IF I note votes still coming in. I'm not sure I'd do that, but perhaps would seriously consider it in case of a tie. Call it overtime ... I love hockey... but who really likes shoot-outs.. settle it on the field. As far as a tiebreak... I did use the PA's charts during the earlier ties but regreted using that. If you remember how tight ELP-Camel was... people were already figuring the tiebreak. oh ohh. Didn't like that not then.. not now. the contest itself is enough of a popularity contest. The real decider should be an impartial one... I have a mechanism in place. A secret one per se. Even while that is a good one... I still lean to keeping the thread open if tied come Sunday morning.

it should probably be determined by hand to hand combat (with the star trek battle music playing in the background)

Fripp v. Collins in the Thunderdome... two enter.. one exits... I like it. Yeah.. I'm sold. So we'll just make it official.. no stupid tiebreakers (and yes.. as one might imagine with an impartial criteria.. it would have been King Crimson moving on) If tied come closing time... it goes into extra time. One day extra periods till we have a winner..
