What? ... ELP should be winning? Camel's classic albums are rated much higher here and on RYM, and that comes from large pools of voters, which is why early on my money would have been on Camel.

I'm surprised it's a tie. A lot of ambivalent voters here?

^ I believe there has been voter intimidation in this thread; no names shall be named, but someone threatened to impose stiff penalties upon those who wouldn't toe the ELP line.

^ Is there a policy in both places that says that? I didn't know that. And all this time I've been told: "Just be honest in your review. Say what it is you like and don't like about the album."

My honest review is that Camel is a snooze fest.

To me nothing I have heard from Camel even approaches the best that ELP had to offer.  Mirage was decent, I could find nothing at all redeeming or invigorating about Snow Goose or Moonmadness.

I'm new to Camel. I only discovered them this year but theyr'e f******g fantastic.

Emotion and musicianship in perfect harmony. They create atmospheres like no other band.

I saw ELP at High Voltage in 2010 and they were pretty awful. They were clearly date expired and their music has'nt aged well.

I would beg to differ about High Voltage.  Very difficult to pull off music of ELP's complexity when off the road for so long, it was more to do with spectacle and dare I say it, nostalgia.  Naturally, I loved it despite the ragged edges and I am sure that was their last concert ever.  I have also seen Camel a few times as well and they did go the way of their prog contemporaries in the early 80s by heading towards a more commercial sound.  After 'Nude' I gave up on them.

You fluffy white foxy, Camel had a great guitarist, listen to this if you want, it's really good Wink ELP didn't although they had very good guests :) Camel - Lady Fantasy [1976]   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAfhNaJ9b68

It depends on one's preference I guess, if you tend to love guitar tunes more I guess you'll prefer Camel in this case WinkCamel - The Snow Goose /Friendship /Rhayader Goes To Town [1975] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aasTYYyhftE&list=RDaasTYYyhftE#t=184
