Just broke the current tie in favor of ELP.  We will see how long that lasts.  Camel may have put out more good albums over the years; their work is like the top 3/4 of the great pyramid - majestic and awe-inspiring.  ELP is like the bottom 1/4 - the solid foundation.  You can take the top cap.  You can remove the exterior.  You can eliminate the majority of the structure, but the foundation will remain.  No matter what else they did, those first four albums are essential Prog.
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

Camel have been more consistent. Just a couple of bad albums in the 80s (Single factor and Pressure Points) and a masterpiece like Rajaz in 1999. ELP were finished in 1977.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

When detailing the history of prog, ELP is essential. Camel is not.

Vote for ELP and name your contest and you'll have my vote. No matter the contest or band. Ask Hawkwind fan how that worked out for them. Clap
