The simularity stops at the fact that both play electric guitars, sometimes distorted... Imo. I love Sabbath, don't get me wrong, but a few episodes of imaginative experimentation aside, Iommi is a metal riff merchant. Fripp has probably dabbled in every rock/pop/funk/jazz guitar style going over the last 40 or so years. His playing on the 80' albums for example is a style that Iommi has never played, come close to, or would probably even want to. |

Iommi has a career beyond Ozzy just like Fripp beyond Lake and Wetton, which is the point I am making.

Most all Sabbath LPs in my opinion would be heavier than Red in my definition of "heavy".I love Both bands, this is just my opinion.

Haha-I knew i'd provoke a comment.I'm just a tad bit bigger Sabbath fan than K.C. but i truly love both bands.Maybe i need a a little straightening out-who knows? I learn something new everyday on here.

Give them both a yo.yo and let battle commence, I mean yeah it's just a bit of fun y'all but they ain't even in the same ball park stylistically, aesthetically or intellectually for Fripp's sake. Even though this is Friday night and I am full of Merlot I have not as yet been culpable in typing anything that smacks of being paraphrased from a botched translation of Pilgrim's Progress: satisfie you the nost?

I think I need a few glasses of Merlot myself to decipher the meaning of that post.

Voted for Iommi, but then again Black Sabbath gets more listens from me than KC (I like some of their albums but I need a special mood for them).
now I go hide... :))))

Both, of course. Love them both, even if they are so different from each other. I don't care about who is the more technically accomplished, or the more influential, of the two - I just know that their music speaks to me in a special way.

Both are amazing. But it's Iommi's tone that I dig more than Fripp's. Capisce?
