Well, they absolutely belong on the site...And as you suggest in the topic heading, Crossover Prog is where they would best fit. We just need to wait either for a member of the team to drop by and pick it up directly, or someone who can access the Collaborator Zone to act as a messenger for us, & drop a note in the team thread. Embarrassed
 
However - the evaluation may take a little while, since the head of the team, Marty McFly, posted yesterday in the Mike Kershaw thread that the team were temporarily down to just three (from an original five), looking for fresh blood, and that the clearing and rejecting of bands wasn't really happening to any great extent at the moment. Patience may therefore be needed... Tongue

Yay! Thank you! Although i should say that this first EP sounds so different from everything they played after that. Their latest releases (especially LPs) are much more "gentle" as i see it. In terms of musical material and sound too.

Ok, so i attempted to make a suggestion as an off-topic because i couldn't make myself to write something adequate about this great band, but i think i should follow the rules after all.

The official information about the band:

The Australian rock sextet Grand Silent System was formed in 1999 (and disbanded in 2006) in the Latrobe Valley area.
Consisting of singer/percussionist Sean Albers, guitarist Daniel Calabro, keyboard player Ben Rejmer, bass player Craig Moren, drummer Ben Hellmig, and flautist Karen Heath (who also plays saxophone and clarinet), the eclectic act blended elements of classical, jazz, funk, rock, and world music to create a unique sound. The fledgling act soon relocated to Melbourne, developing a following for their live performances which bordered on experimental and shared a kinship with progressive rock acts from the '70s. Their initial release, an EP entitled They Who Built, was well-received in their homeland by both critics and fans, with the track "Robotics" garnering airplay (the song even attracted attention from Canadian radio). 




The band released a couple of EPs:
One (2000)
They Who Build (2001)

And two full-lengh albums:
Gift or a weapon (2002)
Everyone lies alone (2004)

And they all are totally amazing.

These guys are remarkable because their sound is very original and rare and they are combining so mant things that are hardly imagined together in an absolutely beautiful way. Tricky time signatures together with beauiful melodies and vocals that at first slightly reminded me of Maynard from Tool (in Stint the Obey, e.g.) - however, this feeling disappeared pretty fast as listened to TGSS more. 
One of the main things that makes their sound so unique is the use of wind intruments such as clarinet, flute and saxophone. What is especially interesting here is their interaction with other components of arrangements. I really love how they work together with the guitars.
