WHAAAAAAAAATT?!?! Lol! `Signify' is everything that can go so right with modern progressive rock! It's got a beautiful blending of old and new styles, long instrumental passages without useless soloing, dark ambience, thoughtful lyrics, sublime group harmonies. It also serves as something of a nice send-off to the early days of the band, before Mr Wilson started focusing on perfecting his songcraft with `Stupid Dream' onwards.

For me it's up there with Paatos' debut `Timeless' as one of the best modern progressive albums.

ps - yeah, `Lightbulb Sun' is pretty damn good too!

I actually think Falling into Infinity is not that bad a record. New Millenium and Lines in the Sand are pretty decent songs ;) If it had to be Dream Theater, I'd go for Scenes from a Memory - Systematic Chaos.

I agree with the guy that says Lizard and Islands were not that good. But lulz to the guy who can't find a Yes album worse than Tales. I don't listen to Tales much nor would I call it good really, but its a masterpiece held up against Big Generator, Talk and Open Your Eyes.

Mine is:

Voivod
Nothingface - Voivod (Edit: I originally said Negatron, but rethought this and remembered how awful the self-titled album was)

And there's no reply at all.
I hate Genesis at all and I don't think ABACAB is their worst. Its guilt is to have been their first truely mainstream album, but WE CAN'T DANCE is not better than it.

When I say "I hate Genesis" it means that I'm not a fan, but I can listen to them and I quite like The Lamb.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

It's true though. So many people, especially on PA really dislike ABACAB. I think because it was such a radical switch in sound that happened quite abruptly, but with the DUKE album people should've felt it coming....pop! And more of it.
I don't hate it at all either. I grew up on 80's New Wave because that's what my parents listened to, so many of those Genesis tunes are ingrained in my being. Today I definitely favor their earlier works, but once upon a time, I knew not that Supper's Ready. WinkI'm starting to wonder if this is the sort of direction Muse is taking, only with dub-step being the popular new genre they are venturing into.

I am glad to see your sound scope is quite clear and that you are seeing quite far, meaning you appreciate the different levels of sound that Genesis has to offer. I like ABACAB as well. I grew up in the 80's and early 90's, so I know how you feel. Anyways I appreciate ABACAB for what it is and Micheal (AUSSIE-BYRD-BROTHER) hit the nail right on the head with his accurate description of the album. It's true. It has a bit of a reggae element too. :)

Micheal, I'm gonna be completely honest with you I like ABACAB as well. Dodo/lurker is a great track. One of my favourite 80's esc tracks. Also, when people bad mouth it I never feel the compelling urge to defend it because I can understand very well why some people really dislike the album.

And that is why there is NO REPLY AT ALL.

Ironically, Metalmarsh89, I gave `Love Beach' a fair review a while back lol!

I tried to focus on the (urh...) `good' or positive aspects of it, I think which were Palmer's drumming and Lake's voice in good form. Not quite the dog it's made out to be, though far from a great album at the same time. I think that dreadful cover really instantly and unfairly turns people off it - and with good reason!

I have yet to see anyone defend ELP's Love Beach (though I have yet to listen to it).
