I voted for "Roots To Branches" because there is slight Middle Eastern theme, which is a departure from JT's albums up until it's release. I own all the above albums and like them for various reasons. It would have been good to have seen "Broadsword And The Beast" on this list as imo it is rather underated and deserves better recognition.

Minstrel in the Gallery, easily one of my favourite JT albums
I don't really care for half of the material on Heavy Horses and Songs from the Wood A Passion Play would be a close second on this list, but Minstrel just clicks instantly with me. Listening to one track will lead to listening the whole album. |

I agree with all this, except for the underrated part, at least for this community. Only TAAB, Aqualung and Songs From The Wood have a higher rating on this site. The album is well loved on the site, and that's as it should be.

Here is a question for the two members that voted for either "Rock Island" or "Dot.com"
Are you both on drugs? |

For me Benefit then Stand Up...then Songs From The Wood. I would prolly put Aqualung third for me if it was in that list.
I got into Tull from day one and I still prefer the earlier material....with Songs being an exception. It's probably just due to playing them more back in the day when we were..you know...altered. ![]() btw...I have to say there were a few real duds on that list imho. Oh...can one of thoe who voted for Passion Play please explain why you like it above all the other excellent ones on that list..? ![]() Edited by dr wu23 - March 29 2013 at 22:22 |

So when I got my first car I bought a used 8-track machine. It came with three 8-track tapes. Birds of Fire - Mahivishnu Orchestra; The first Jerry Garcia solo album; and Benefit. Damn, did those tapes got worn out!

" ... with kitchen prose and gutter rhymes."
Songs From The Wood is second only to Thick As A Brick in my view (And still, much as I try, I can't get into A Passion Play - inexplicably ...) |
