Choose the album that you prefer from the list and please explain why.

As for me I can't choose between Heavy Horses and A Passion Play.

Please don't ask why there are no TAAB and Aqualung Wink

A Passion Play. Listened it just few days ago. Everytime I'm just amazed ...

Passion Play is the only Tull album I still listen to on a regular basis.  I do enjoy most of the others though, I just don't listen to Tull in general that much any more.

Songs From the Wood just ahead of Heavy Horses. The rest of the list I can take or leave, but I love Aqualung (by far their best album for me) and I like TAAB.

For me it is always a toss-up between Songs From the Wood and Heavy Horses despite the fact that in almost all instances Heavy Horses wins, as it does this time.

Where's "A"?

Much maligned but I love it....not as much as Stand Up, Benefit, APP or SFTW but it should be more appreciated than it is.

I'm a big fan, I love all from the list with a plus on Songs from the Wood, my fav JT album ever. It was the first album I've hered from them and still have a soft spot fot it, a perfect combination between prog and folk.

Passion follows and A for me, a very under rated album for sure.

Same here. I got "Stand Up" and got hooked to the Tull sound, and have been for the last 40 plus years. that being said, all the albums in this list are very good, so whichever album wins, it's ok by me.

Aqualung and Thick as a brick. Songs from the wood in third.

From the list, Benefit, because it was very bluesy yet had many Prog sensibilities. Minstrel in the Gallery second, because the title track perfected their classic sound and Cold Wind to Valhalla captures my imagination.

Those are my top two from the list as well but maybe reverse the order.

That just means the album is so good it satisfied your Tull jones for that long. Wink  It was not my first album of theirs, but among them.  For me, it has a charm to it that only Songs From the Wood comes close to but none ever quite match it.  Even though that one is not my #1, I am quite glad to see that it and Passion Play are dominating the polls.  Two incredible albums and each so different from one another.

It has some good songs on it like Budapest and Farm on the Freeway, but Steel Monkey is quite the worst JT track I've ever heard. I f*****g hate it with a passion.

I don't mind Steel Monkey.  I like Jump Start and Said She Was A Dancer (although that sounds quite Dire Straits) as well as Budapest and Farm on the Freeway.  Also, Raising Steam is a great road-trip driving song - "I may not be coming back".

Stand Up.  My favourite even if Aq and TTAB were in the list.

Great songs with brilliant melody throughout. No filler.

I think has been very underrated even in JT's early years.

Most Tull remasters are at least 4 star.

Stand up deluxe 3 cd-bonus tracks and great live disc
Benefit- 4 bonus tracks
Aqualung 40 year 2 cd-plenty of bonus tracks
Thick as a brick
A passion play
Warchild-7 bonus tracks
Songs from the wood- bonus track
Stormwatch-4 bonus tracks
Heavy horses-3 bonus tracks
A-great live stripstrean dvd

I voted for "Roots To Branches" because there is slight Middle Eastern theme, which is a departure from JT's albums up until it's release. I own all the above albums and like them for various reasons. It would have been good to have seen "Broadsword And The Beast" on this list as imo it is rather underated and deserves better recognition.

Minstrel in the Gallery, easily one of my favourite JT albums

I don't really care for half of the material on Heavy Horses and Songs from the Wood

A Passion Play would be a close second on this list, but Minstrel just clicks instantly with me. Listening to one track will lead to listening the whole album.

I agree with all this, except for the underrated part, at least for this community.
Only TAAB, Aqualung and Songs From The Wood have a higher rating on this site.
The album is well loved on the site, and that's as it should be.

For me Benefit then Stand Up...then Songs From The Wood. I would prolly put Aqualung  third for me if it was in that list.
I got into Tull from day one and I still prefer the earlier material....with Songs being an exception.
It's probably just due to playing them more back in the day when we were..you know...altered.
Wink

btw...I have to say there were a few real duds on that list imho.
Oh...can one of thoe who voted for Passion Play please explain why you like it above all the other excellent ones on that list..?
Confused

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

A Passion Play has been my #1 favorite Tull ever since it came out, and is one of the very first things I'd grab if headed for the proverbial desert island. TAAB is #2 but isn't on the list, and Minstrel would be #3.

One of their best albums for me, but mostly because I'm a fan of English Folk Rock as well.
