For once I don't have to worry about voting for Magma. Tongue

Hmmm....GonG or Henry Cow. I'll go with the Cow on this one.

Oh man, what a dilemna!

`Angels Egg' was the first Gong album I ever heard, pretty soon after I first started getting into prog, and it was such a wild and varied album...and Hawkwind's `Hall of the Mountain Grill' was the first Hawkwind album I bought and I really loved it. It was the only Hawkwind album I had for a couple of years, I played it over and over!

But I'm going for that ungodly and vile dark beast Kohntarkosz, which I think I recently mentioned as sounding like `A bunch of aliens conducting a seance'!

I love how unnerving some of those hissing choral vocal moments get on the first side!

I was about to vote for Magma but I've seen Angel's Egg.....
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I'm not much of a Magma listener, and find some of their stuff irritating, but "Kohntarkosz" is an absolute monster, and by far my favorite of theirs. I have to choose it despite a few real worthy albums here.

I have 6 of these. Shocked  Nektar's Tab in the Ocean if my favorite from this group.  I also like the Hawkwind, the Guru Guru, and Leg End from Henry Cow.  Magma and Gong are both OK too.

I am surprised at how popular Nektar have been in these last two polls. Not that i disagree with that because i really like those two albums. And A Tab In The Ocean was even better than i remembered. Nice pick !

I'll give it to the Cow this time, with GonG and Guru Guru as VERY VERY close followups.

Hall of the Mountain Grill is my choice, though the rest is right up there!
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Great list!

Pretty close to how i would rate them but i'd put the two Krautrock bands much higher. Thanks for this though.

I've noticed some people writing Gong like this: "GonG".  Not sure I'd seen it like that before - where did that come from?
