I find that rather unsurprising. Prog metal isn't necessarily appealing to the average 70s prog fan.

Also rather unsurprising, considering the other five bands are all classic prog bands that almost anybody here can agree on. Prog metal, on the other hand, is much more specific and will thus polarize more. It has nothing to do with Dream Theater themselves.

1. You're the only one who harps on that, and that's only because you made a shtick out of it because it annoys people.
2. They're not hated around here. A band whose highest-rated album is at 4.29 isn't hated. 4.29 is a very high rating.
3. Nothing destroys your credibility more than using the word "hater", except maybe the "you're all just jealous" and the "you all just don't understand it" argument. Observe progbethyname's post above for how it makes you sound like a desperate fanboy who can't defend his object of obsession with a good argument.

On a lighter note (because this thread needs more humor), gotta love the random Heino album.

Carved in Stone was an album by Shadow Gallery - MUCH better than Dream Theatre!

No, I'm just a sardonic a****le. I actually prefer Dream Theater's Awake to Shadow Gallery's...anything. Not by much. 

On a good day I'd give Awake a hearty ****/*****. Nothing mind-blowing (though Space-Dye Vest came really close when I was a dumb teenager). Certainly a great album I'm glad to have listened to.
