The fact that hip hop is so popular. I realize there is some intelligent hip hop out there, although I still don't like the style. But I see the rise in popularity as both a reflection of and to some degree a cause of the dumbing down of America.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Like what, tell me.
THOSE STUPID KIDS THAT MADE THE VIDEO GAMES MUSIC VIDEO!!!!!!!#!##!#@#@@@!#@!@#!@#
Can you really hold it against the kids? You really think it's their fault? I think it's mostly a matter of exposure. Their parents are also at fault. Give'em the Floyd and ... uh, they might not be that enthralled with that. Uh ... it's their loss.
As for the OP question, I wouldn't bother answering it since there are gazillions of examples of the biggest disgrace in the music realm.

Also, speaking of Coldplay, I also liked them up to a certain point when some incidents occurred and after that I couldn't hear them without getting a bad taste in my mouth.
I wasn't aware there was any controversy surrounding them.

Pavarotti pre-recording his Winter Olympics performance in 2006. Since I heard of that, I have stopped believing any barriers exist between 'real' music and Beaver/Rebecca other than the money involved.

Yeah, it was in all the tabloids - apparently, or so I'm lead to believe by the voices in my head, apparently, Chris Martin and some blond actress who was inthat wassname... film, had eaten a spicy bean-burger meal deal in McDonald's and neglected to clear the table after themselves - yup - allegedly it was a right mess - half-eaten fries all over the place, spilt diet cola mixed in with tomato ketchup and BBQ sauce smeared over the table and everything - they didn't even take their tray back. Caused quite a scandal at the time.
A bloody disgrace if you ask me - I burnt my copies of Parachutes and Sliding Doors in protest.
^ No Dean, that's actually not what I was talking about, though I had heard that Chris Martin was quite full of himself and quite a douche before. But that's more like salt on a wound for me.
No, I really didn't want to say anything because I don't want to start an argument, but this is what I'm talking about:
Now, we can have a big argument about whether Colplay did actually plagiarize that song, and as I understand it, there's a third song that is quite similar to both so then it becomes an argument of "well, did they BOTH plagiarize?" But the real thing that bothers me...actually 2 things: 1) Joe Satriani did try to sue Coldplay, and it was months of his lawyer trying to serve them with papers, while they played this game of running and hiding while having their security play keep away. They obviously thought Satriani would run out of money and give up eventually, and to me that's almost as good as an admission of guilt. Eventually (what I heard) they threw some money at him and he did give up. But what really, REALLY bothers me about the whole thing is: 2) Viva La Vida won a frickin' grammy! I've ALWAYS thought the grammys have become a joke, but if a song that is involved in a plagiarism lawsuit wins one? And to top this all off - they play the dang thing 12 times a day...STILL! Salt on the wound for me - I just can't hear them any more without getting a bad taste in my mouth. And I actually did used to like them.
