Harrison for me

no real contest

Portnoy's ok I guess but I can think of dozens of drummers that I prefer to him

Two classics in my opinion, though some may disagree. There's of course much more, but these two tracks really showcase his unique style and technique. I just really like the sound of the way he plays - very natural, very musical.

Thanks...
I have both of those and  having listened again agree they are pretty fine songs with excellent drumming.

After watching LTE's live in LA dvd, I am so convinced by Portnoy's drumming. That's his best drumming in LTE.

There's actually not that much up on youtube, so I just listened to this track, but I was absolutely blown away by this one. The Bass playing is so uniquely technical and Gavin definitely has a Bruford/ Crimso influenced rhythm going on there - 21/8, I think? Thanks for introducing me to 05ric. Just a phenomenal bass player, I mean he uses like an 8 string bass, the guy is nuts! LOL I'm seriously considering on trying to get my hands on album by these guys.

Yeah, it's a shame. They should be more known. I'm probably going to ask my local record store owner to order me in a copy of Circles. Having a physical copy of an album just appeals to me more. CD quality is great as well. I'm also one of those guys that likes to study liner notes. Embarrassed Cool

Drop is more emotional while Circles is more metallic.

Gavin Harrison's technique might be my favorite of any drummer ever. He is the second coming of Neil Peart.

The world usually disagrees with ProgArchives when it comes to DT-related things.

It's like you have some kind of agenda to prove that DT are awesome and anybody who disagrees is objectively wrong.

Chad Smith is listed under the Best Overall Drummers...
And why was Peart considered for best drummer for 2012..

It's all a matter of preference. Here, more people enjoy Gavin's drumming. I've already voiced my opinion on Portnoy. He is a good drummer, though i think he is overrated.
It's quite annoying how you get all defensive about anyone who disagrees with you. Just makes it easier to troll.

Vinny Coliauta destroys all anyway. I think Peart is just as overrated as Portnoy and Harrison.

Though i love Harrison, i understand how difficult it is for musicians and bands to emerge among big name artists.
