I think you should mix the series up a bit.  Probably do one more basic one and then start throwing in some more obscure stuff, and some fun ones as well.  "Favorite prog hairstyle," "Favorite Peter Gabriel double entendre..." stuff like that.

It's funny, I hear all the time that Omar is the brains behind the music of TMV, but his solo work is absolute rubish as far as I'm concerned. (I'm perhaps the biggest fan of TMV's first 3 albums)
 
Luciforms (from Octahedron) has one of the greatest guitar solos ever.

yeah don't get me wrong he's a great guitarist, and that particular solo is good. I've just never placed much emphasis on the idea of solos in general, I find they often detract from the overall quality of a given peice of music. I would rather gauge a guitarist's caliber with the impact he has on the musical direction.
Again, don't misunderstand, I like solos as much as anyone I just wish they weren't so often in rock music in general LOL (specially in terms of guitarists)
 
Well, I don't think Omar overdoes the solos, at least on the albums I've heard (live performances are another matter entirely).  I've never thought solos tended to detract from music (unless it's a particularly bad one) but I would agree that it gets annoying when guitarists think they have to put a solo in every song *cough* Petrucci *cough*.

Same. There are so many wonderful guitarists in prog with various strengths and styles. But Petrucci's playing has a special place in my heart.
