Coming to this site does cheer me up quite often. This place is truly great fun, but I sometimes miss real life interaction with interesting people, which I have yet to find from my town.

It is difficult to give advice. You live in Finland. It's a small place you live in. It is impossible for you to meet people of like minded interests unless you move to a city. Otherwise you will obviously have to find some other way to be happy.

Sorry.

How is that true?

He's Saron. He didn't build an army worthy of Mordor with facts....geesh.

Rap and R&B are way more popular in my closest city, so I certainly ain't going to find like minded people there.

True. It is probably the same nearly anywhere but more people = more chances to find like minded people.

I've found a couple of like-minded friends at non-cities, which should be more than enough for anyone.

Not saying it is not possible. But our friend has had no luck so far...

I think his requirements might be too strict...

We'd probably end up with some pretty diverse neighborhoods, something like in Michael Marshall Smith's novel Only Forward...different neighborhoods for different interests, walls built around them, etc.  I don't think I'd want to live in the Shred neighborhood, though...probably the ZART neighborhood, though even that could be pretty scary. LOL

And to quote some other one: yes, exersize does help! A bit over an hour of running, strenght-training and stretching at the gym always leaves me feeling better than i did before Approve

I'm the same way. I have a very small circle of very close friends, most of them i;ve known since age 6.
We will always enjoy our company, but i'm pretty much the "music nerd". I lack a lot of similarities with them, and it seems they tend to drift away sometimes.

I enjoy being alone, but it wears down you eventually.

Off topic, but I had two unlikely prog experiences at work today..

1) I was having a coffee with an IT support guy in the cafeteria today, and Mike & the Mechanics came on the radio (Living Years) He rolled his eyes and said, when you think of all the great music Genesis made, all you ever hear on the radio is the drek that the individual members made. A bit harsh, I thought, but it did launch us into a discussion about Genesis and prog rock. Interestingly he said he really liked Pendragon and Marillion, but had never heard the term 'neo-prog'

2) Roughly an hour later, I took a package over to our shipping dept, and the packing room guy - again, who I'd known for years - was blasting out 'Seconds Out' on the stereo.

A good day for prog rock at my work place. Mind you, it is crawling with nerdy scientists...

Anyway..back on topic..slightly..it goes to show there are those out there, who appreciate our music. Seek and ye shall find.

There's nothing wrong with wanting more for yourself, but 'always' wanting more, could mean that you're never happy.

You need to look at the reasons why you always want more.

True fulfillmenmt may never be within your grasp, if you are pre-disposed to never allowing it to be. You may find that you are looking for something that doesn't exist, and if that is the case, the earlier in your life you realise this, and accept it, the more time you will have to appreciate what you do have.

In any case, I wish you happiness.

Edited with less potentially offensive language..
