He certainly did, but as it was said...in a close game every mistake counts. The Ravens penalty (offside I think) that took a way a pick, the flacco INT. And the horrid final two mistakes of course. Any one different and maybe a different outcome, it's what I love so much! Also LOL I guess it's good Jerry Jones realizes the problem, but will he realize that he IS the problem!? Well, a large part of it at least. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8264541d/article/jones-cowboys-need-to-play-more-like-giants-down-the-stretch Edited by JJLehto - January 24 2012 at 14:22 |

Yeah, any chance for a quick Indy turn around has gone out the window. I didn't realise he was Peyton's first QB coach, though. This would explain why he's been able to build a career in the NFL: in the right place at the right time. Dramatization, didn't really happen:
Bruce: "You know, I guided Peyton Manning along at the start of his career."
Anyone watching: "Be honest, he didn't need you, at all, did he?"
Bruce: "Shhhhh, you want to queer the deal?"
Anyway, I can see why he wanted to go back to Indy. He probably sees Luck as another can't miss guy who's success he can further his career on. Assuming Peyton doesn't come back and Luck's starting then he will have to rely on Arian's play calling, though, and I can't imagine a worse scenario for a young QB.

While I was sure this would not be case, I gotta say it seems pretty clear now Peyton isn't returning.
Especially now that the "decision" was made weeks ago and no one seems to actually know about it. If it's yes it's yes ![]() Wow I never knew that either. Well, Arians certainly has lucked out by getting himself involved with 2 big name QBs thus far, and I did hear that Ben is supposedly pretty upset about the departure. Guess everyone disliked Arians except the big man himself. Maybe he'll develop the kid well, or maybe Luck won't really need him and Arians can benefit again from "raising" another star. Just crazy how this all went down, we've all said for years the Colts need to fix their problems and they just let it go, and due to an injury took the chance to slash, burn and rebuild. Just unusual, and feels kinda classless from the team with a pretty good rep. I digress. As I've said before, OC seems to be a pretty weak position anyway. Cam Cameron is pretty disliked but shall keeping his job and Kevin Gilbride will obviously be staying. He's lucky we got a QB that can constantly convert 3rd and 8+ and has gotten a handle on his complex offense. Seriously, the Pats seems to run the same 5 plays all game while the Giants allow their receivers to run like 3 routes themselves. I believe Cruz has free will to pretty much run where he wants, alot of sh*t to read and throw accurately to in 3 seconds! Edited by JJLehto - January 29 2012 at 10:52 |

Bruce was Ben's buddy and he also let Ben do his own thing. He has always been nice enough to give his o-line and Bruce a lot of credit for the teams success but I think that, deep down, he knows the teams success, on offense, has been entirely up to him. Ben enjoyed the freedom Bruce gave him and is probably more concerned about having a real system come in than the well being of his buddy. I would like to think the organization would be forward thinking enough to bring in somebody like a Todd Haley but I fear that end up promoting from within or bringing in the Colt's castaway head coach. We already have Tomlin's "I have no idea what's going on or what to do about it" expression on the sideline, we don't need whatshisname's. The Rooney's have a loooong way to go to regain any of my trust and this generation of the family probably never will (the endorsement of Obama in 08', and for completely selfish reasons, was reprehensible). |

To be fair, can ya blame him? Must be nice to have freedom to just do whatever, also he's a vet by now so guess he doesn't really need training or a disciplined system, or at least he doesn't want that.
Though with all these young/new receivers it does need to be someone good to develop them/the offense. O! I hope you all caught the pro bowl! I had to tune in to get a laugh, man I knew they didnt try but there was zero attempt at even pretending ![]() My Dolphins friend (who suddenly doesn't remember the man he wanted this team to suck for...phony phan) is raving about the epic game Brandon Marshall had and how next year it is over for us all! So, Cam Newton waits untill the Pro Bowl to play like I expected him to play all year: terrible? Don't worry fellow haters; he'll struggle next year.

Well, you won't find any here. My major criticism, that he wont even be a competent passer, never actually happened. Looks like a natural and fine passer, which means he just needs to develop and iron the kinks with his game, which every QB needs to do. He's only going up and up from here out man! Even on that sad Panthers team showed some flash. When he grows it'll be the bigger, more mobile Eli Manning! I am fearful that Tebow might actually become a passer, then we never hear the end of him. I don't wanna bet $ on that happening but the b*****d is determined, if someone actually gives enough of a damn to bother I bet he'll spend his life throwing passes till he perfects it ![]() ![]() Edited by JJLehto - January 29 2012 at 23:41 |

It's certainly unnerving having things seem so right for the Giants. Not only does it make ripe atmosphere for the upset (even though the Pats are technically favored) the Giants have a terrible history of blowing it when things are going well
![]() Only good thing is they are on a roll and I'm sure focused. Things look good for a Giants win and I think it's because of plus matchups: -Giants offense vs Pats defense: Giants major advantage. Their coverage is just not good and don't get much pressure. Given the play of Eli under major pressure and with the deep ball, (and overall play) this looks good. -Pats offense vs Giants defense: Whew, that's a nail biter but I will give a slight advantage Giants since they played so well against the Falcons, Packers and surprising Niners offenses. Also Brady doesn't seem as invincible as past years. It is Tom Brady though, I'm hoping and expecting a good game. If we lose thanks to BS I'll bitterly accept defeat ![]() Go G men Edited by JJLehto - February 05 2012 at 00:18 |

On another note:
Cam Newton has been named offensive ROY, and I agree. At first my vote was for Dalton since I liked his solid consistency over Cam's inconsistency, but as the year went on I was more impressed with Cam and less with Dalton. Not to mention a poorer team around Cam...maybe I'm a sucker but I'll take the good year with flashes of explosion over the stable, conservative year. Von Miller is defensive ROY and there's really no competition. Drew Brees is Offensive POY and well, that's tougher to judge but can't really disagree. Not so much the yards but his 71+% complete with so many throws, and lots of deep balls, is crazy and the way he can turn on that offense at times! Suggs is defensive POY and IDK...I always had a tough time with this one, especially with linemen, backers, secondary all being so different. Still, in my gut I want to say Justin Smith. Rodgers has been named MVP. Again, really no complaint. I do wish they would wait until after the SB since the years not done...and given the overall state of the Giants and Pats, and the state of some other teams, I think whichever QB plays a bigger role/has a bigger game should honestly be named MVP. Eli and Brady both had the burden of carrying their teams. |

No need to over analyze these teams......ESPN does a great job of dissecting every angle, nook and cranny of the teams........I have major SB overload and the coin has not been tossed yet. NYG 31
Pats 28
And I do not think the MVP should wait till after the SB.......The MVP is for the regular season since there is a SB MVP, getting to the SB takes a lot of luck as well as talent, but in a lot of cases luck wins out.
I mean after Brady's pc of krapt performance, no TDs, he should not be considered for any MVP.

What can I say? Music, sports, politics...I love to analyze sh*t. It's what I do. Too much maybe but I've accepted it, I've tried not doing it and I can't. Also I avoid ESPN generally so I don't have the overload.
And eh that was one game, really this year Brady has been one of the most valuable players. As of late he's reached Peyton type levels of doing so much with so little. Whatever, it's not that big a thing for me just a nice little award, I just honestly think over the entire year Eli and Brady have been the most valuable players. I wont predict a score, or even officially pick a winner (what can I say? ![]() Edited by JJLehto - February 05 2012 at 02:53 |

Wow. Combine this thread with hearing the experts talk I'm almost fearful with all the Gmen love. Part of me likes it, part of me doesn't. I'll say this though, it will probably be close, it will probably be a nail biter, but damn would I love to see it be a huge blowout for the giants. Too many heart attack games thus far.
And, being I'm of the supersitious sort, I'll call for the superbowl champs to be...the Patriots.
Should be a good game.

Also, I found it interesting that the pats released Tiquon Underwood the day before the superbowl. I only mention it because he was one of the "star" wide recievers at Rutgers when I was there.
