That represents a complete lack of understanding on:

1) anyone who actually calls himself a libertarian in any of the threads we have ever had on politics or economics
2) the actual spectrum on which ideologies can exist (hint: it's more than Democrat and Republican)

Well, the issue here is that we all have our opinions on the answers to the problems facing our country, but to turn every post into a dissertation on political science or macro-economics is a bit pompous, don't you think?  Just because we have political ideas and may even be active in politics doesn't mean that we spend hours pouring over political or economic texts for fun.  Wink  I work and also have much better things to do with my time.

Fair enough, but I don't understand coming down on people who do pour over economic and political text and spout off their opinions in related threads.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

You can't have politically or economically oriented threads without talking about politics or economics. It just so happens that more people here want to call out Slart's incessant nitpicking of ideas and poor argumentation. I think one could do that without being a libertarian, but it just so happens the libertarians are the ones who do it (and do it well).

I have no problem with his nitpicking of ideas or his argumentation.  As one of the few liberals who actually bother to post in these threads anymore, it's refreshing to see a non-libertarian/non-conservative viewpoint.  Would be great to see more Slartis join in.

Boy does Newt have a job for your daughter.  Never too early to put a union worker out of a job and a child laborer back in.

Leave his kid out of it.  Stern Smile

There is no on topic with this thread, hell the actual protests have gone well off track a while ago.

So, it doesn't matter if the ratio is exactly 475 to 1, 185 to 1 (the lowest ratio cited), 525 to 1 (the highest ratio cited) or 10 billion to 1.  The ratio should be closer to about 10 (to 20) to 1 at a maximum.

Why?

Because I said so.  That's why.  Wink

Because I believe in opportunity for all to have a decent life over a few having everything and the rest struggling to survive.  Because for every dollar that a CEO makes, that's one less dollar the company has to pay the real workers in the company and to fight against wage increases or to attempt to depress wages (and use the "market" as an excuse), send jobs overseas or whatever in order to fatten your own wallet (when you already make more than you're worth) is theft.  It may be legal theft, but it's still theft.   And because no one is worth 185 times, 475 times, 525 times, whatever the person who scrubs the toilets.

I will just lay here and wallow in my delusions then.  Wink

I hope that eggnog's not spiked for the 2 year olds.  Tongue
