Actually, surprisingly, yes. Not delete per se, but the entire domain name system is run off of 13 central servers maintained by ICANN. I think hackers have had as many as 11 of them down before with DDoS attacks. But someone at ICANN could theoretically just get pissed off and make the whole thing go dark. That is unless you have the ip addresses to all your favorite sites memorized.
